strange screen issues

hello

I was given a Nokia 2520 Verizon tablet. Everything was fine until I let the battery discharge completely for several weeks. Upon coming back to the Nokia I discovered the screen wasn't working correctly. When it first booted the screen was entirely white with no image, So I forced shutdown and rebooted. once again it booted but this time it had a black 1 inch bar above the start button. and the screen had a ghosting image again restarted. Each time I would reboot the tablet the image would improve to a usable state aside from the black bar (never goes away anymore).

The whole time this is happening the tablet has full function aside from the screen.

There are time's when the black bar becomes transparent and shows the image. The touch screen works perfectly.
When the tablet is hooked up to a hdmi port the display goes completely white and has to be force rebooted.
