Hello all,
Still not a new WP user... yet. I have a few weeks of my current Virgin Mobile month left, so I've still been looking around, reading reviews, and checking out the forums.
The MS online store is offering a free shell with a purchase of either the T-Mobile or AT&T 635. Would the no-contract AT&T Lumia 635 work on Cricket with a Cricket SIM? It's cheaper ($99.99 vs. 129.99) and comes in a better color (black instead of white). MS is also offering a free shell combo for a limited time, so I would get orange or green - for free. The 630s look back in stock on Cricket for 'free' after rebate, but the capped HSPA speeds are a bit of a downer to me.
And this is perhaps a trickier question, but would an AT&T device on Cricket be eligible for the AT&T unlock? I've never heard of a prepaid carrier unlocking phones, but since it is an AT&T phone, I wonder if anyone has used it on Cricket and then unlocked (I'm guessing more likely people go from AT&T>Cricket, not Cricket>elsewhere). So if Cricket's performance is subpar, I could try out T-Mobile. I believe under their unlock webpage, I would be eligible in 60 days:
"Postpaid Phones and Tablets with no Service Commitment: Account has been active for at least sixty days and is in good standing (i.e., it has no past due amount or unpaid balance owed AT&T)." https://forums.windowscentral.com/e...viceunlock%2Fclient%2Fen_US%2F&token=DIMDdaQJ
