Looks like people are liking this phone a lot more than was predicted. So many people have left comments in articles about it that it's "low range" or whatnot, but it's clearly a success thus far. It'll be interesting to see how additional users rate it on T-Mobile's website (I left my own review last night, though it's not posted yet).

The people who called it low end are the spec whores who want HD resolution and pureview. However, clearly no other phone has purview other than the 808 and 920 so is it really a missing spec? Also is the HD screen really necessary when you have the best AMOLED display ever put on a phone? If you search my posts you will see that I have defended this phone as a "High End" phone and people are really starting to realize it after they hold it in person and take it for a spin. Sure HD would be nice but I compared the 820 display in person at AT&T with the 920 and found the 820 more pleasing to look at with punchier colors and pitch black blacks. Others are also mentioning that the 810 display is nicer than the 8X display while the 8X has an HD screen with one of the highest ppi currently available on a phone. Personally I am thrilled with my 810 and could not ask for a better phone regardless of price or carrier.

    I'm getting a 920.

But I will say that when I saw the 820 display in person I was seriously impressed. Definitely more powerful and vivid than the 920. It was beautiful to behold.

EXACTLY! Specs are entirely overrated - I'm so tired of "2gb of RAM" and "5.5" Super Duper Megatron Neo AMOLED" display and so on...the 810 is a beautiful phone, well built, and get this - will do anything the "better" spec'ed phones will do. In fact, I continue to be unimpressed by the 8X. I agree with you TJWINS, the 8X screen today looks kind of washed out to me, especially on your more dull tone colors and even video looked kind of gray. It wasn't the video, mind you - it popped on my screen beautifully. I'm glad not everyone believes the hype and looks past specs alone.

I have a 920, and I got my mom an 820. She loves it btw. I've held them side by side, and the biggest difference is the 920 is a hair sharper and I mean only a hair, while the 820 has a more vivid screen.
