550 off contract, ridiculous

Ok - I was riding on my personal hate train as I called Verizon asking about what my ETF would be across all lines as this really made me mad. The rep indicated that off-contract pricing is 100% dictated by the manufacturer and not the carrier. I always thought that carriers had some say in that pricing, but according to her that's not the case. If so it definitely looks like Nokia is aggressively trying to drive people to the Lumia 920 and/or AT&T, and not really supporting VZW. If so that may not bode well for offerings down the line - hope I'm wrong.

Best buy has different prices depending on color which leads me to believe that number is a place mat of sorts. I'm going to wait for Verizon to announce the price before I salt up.

So I just saw that the 822 has come in at $449.99 off-contract. That's pretty awesome. Normally Best Buy does put a premium on their prices, but I was expecting $500-550 at minimum.
