Help Needed - Purchased new Lumia 820 with Chinese firmware

HI Guys,

I purchased a new Lumia 820 from Hong Kong. The phone is unlocked but has Chinese firmware. I am saying this because When I go to the Windows Store, its in Chinese language. I have checked the language and regional settings in the Setting and they all show it's English India, but when I connect to the store to purchase any app or install apps, its in Chinese language. Kindly help.

I tried contacting Microsoft support and they told me that the phone has chinese firmware and hence needs to be taken to the Windows Support in India from Nokia. Is there a way to change the firmware of the phon. The following details are available for the phone

Product Code: 059R4C4

You will need to flash Indian firmware on it, or any else version which has english as native language, like USA. The Nokia care guys will do the same and charge you Rs. 350 for it.

Thanks vaibhav for the idea but the reason I posted the question here is that because I thought I can do it myself.

I have migrated from Android and I always enjoyed flashing in Android and hence wanted to try it out myself. can you help me in learning how to flash the new Indian Firmware.

By the way what is the meaning and significance of the RM-826 and what is the name for Indian Lumia 820

My 820 is RM826, RM-xxx refers to slightly different hatdware depending on different regions i think. Follow this guide, just remember to select the same RM-version as yours and select Indian firmware to dowload. How to Flash a Bricked Nokia Lumia 820/920|WP8

There seems to be some issues with the NavifirmPlus and what I have read on internet, Nokia has stopped access to it firmwares, is that correct. As I get error when ever I tried to open the NavifirmPlus. Is there any other way of getting the firmware updates.

Vaibhav or anyone with Lumia 820 India phone, can you please tell me the Product code that's listed in your phone. The product code is below the battery right below the IMEI number. It should have something like CODE.

Also if I understand all the information that I have read, as long as the Type firmware is as per your mobile device, you can install any firmware, not necessary it should be specific to the purchased country. What I mean is that if I download the data for RM-826, I can download the India firmware instead of the CN firmware listed.

By the way, for the Indian firmware - the latest software version is 1232.5951.1249.1001 instead of the latest firmware 1232.5957.1308.1004 kindly confirm.

Yes you can install as long as the the firmware is for the same RM-xxx number. And the CODE written on my phone is: 059R4F3

EDIT: forgot to mention, the latest software version is NOT 1232.5951.1249.1001

It is, 1232.5957.1308.0001

1308 update must have been rolled out globally by now! Your phone probably should have it too.

Thanks for confirming Vaibhav, the CN firmware that I have on my phone is 1232.5957.1308.1004, which seems to be latest than the indian firmware that is installed on your phone 1232.5957.1308.0001. Though I will install this after all I don't understand chinese language at all and don't want to buy anything from the Chinese market store which I can't use. Thanks a lot dude.... I will bother if there is more help needed.

All is well - and I have just installed my first Windows Phone 8 rom..... Got the phone today at 6:00 pm and by 2:00am it has been flashed.. its the fastest flash I have ever done.... Thanks a lot for your help Vaibhav.
