unlocked lumia 822 and the apn problem!

So now I learned the hard way that altough the 822 is unlocked verizon has restriced anyone from using 3g/4g on the mobile phone except verizon's.

Does anyone have any idea if they are planning to fix this problem or not?And any eta?

Otherwise unfortunately I have to try and sell it here because without 3g its worthless

It will probably be fixed in the next update, assuming they didn't do it on purpose. Someone said the new firmware should be released this month.

tried it still no use...had to downgrade it to make it work..hopefully next update will fix everything

I just used nokia access point and worked like a charm, configure your own apn settings... use this

Try install "Access Point", with new update v3.7.2.15 at 7/18/2013, you can add & edit apn to get 3G, MMS, internet sharing on your Lumia

It depends on your service as well. I recently purchased an 822 to use on MetroPCS (Sub. of T-Mobile), and I get HSPA, 3G or Edge depending on the area I am in. I did download Access Point, but I have not tried to edit the APN yet. The only thing that sucks about T-Mobile on the 822 is I can't send text messages unless I am on Edge for some reason.

3g works for me with the updated version I just want to be sure that sms works too before updating it.

Did you try to set you network to receive 2G only? I did that and it sends out SMS well.

I tried everythings but can't send sms even set network to 2G only Do you set your network to receive 2G only in Settings/ Cellular ? I live in Viet Nam & can't send sms on my gsm network, both 2G & 3G. I can send sms on stock fw 1244.0003, hope Amber/GDR2 can fix it.

Yes I did. By any chance do you know the bands your cell company uses? It may not use the right 2G with the 822, but it does have the right 3G, which now doesn't send texts.
