I am having a serious issue with my new Nokia Lumia 900 and I really think is an OS bug. If I cannot have this fixed soon, I will have to return my phone.

I have enabled on my Nokia my GMAIL account. It synchs perfectly well and it pushes the emails just fine. The problem is that certain emails don't get forwarded correctly.

I have received two emails one from Elance and the other from hotels.com. If I try to forward any of those emails to any recipient. The recipient does not get the email correctly.

Email forwarded from my Nokia (gmail account) to any recipient (this is what the recipient gets):

It seems the OS is transforming the HTML email into just the code. If I go to sent items the email also looks wrong.

What is going on?

Can anybody help?

I am able to forward emails just fine from my gmail account on my lumia 900. So I don't think it is an "OS Bug" as you say it is. Try something else, have you tried doing a reboot of the phone? Just a suggestion before you pull your hair out trying something else.

that's odd, the only time i've seen html being converted to code was from behind a secured company account...

my lumia (and other wp7 devices) have no issue forwarding html email.

maybe look in the settings, or delete and re-add the account?

You could do some troubleshooting by first, logging in to the gmail webapp on your phone and trying to forward from there. And you could try forwarding from your gmail account on your computer and see what happens.

This is a common problem in the email world where newsletters and emails containing html are not forwarded properly...some email msgs nowadays have a link in the email that say forward to your friend...if thats there click that and send it to them.

Also this may or may not work but give it a shot...

Open Gmail on your desktop.
  1. To forward a message containing inline images, you'll need to have Rich formatting enabled. Rich formatting is not available in Gmail's basic HTML view
  2. Click Compose Mail.
  3. Click Rich formatting >> above the blank text field of the message (if you don't see this link, you already have Rich formatting enabled and won't need to do anything else).
  4. Discard the blank message.
  5. With Rich formatting enabled, just open the message you'd like to forward, click Forward along the bottom of the message, and then click Send.
  6. Try to forward the email from your phone now.

Thanks for all the responses.

Believe me guys, I have done a lot of troubleshooting and I have reset and restore the phone several times but nothing seems to fix it. I do have the latest OS version.

If I try from my computer everything works fine. If I try by using IE on my phone and access GMAIL it also works fine. I can forward and recepients get the email correctly.

If I try using my NOKIA using my GMAIL account (email added/synched) it does not work. I can't just forward those HTML emails.

I can't be the only one having this issue.

Sridhar V, I cannot do those changes on the phone. Those changes you propose are for the browse and not for the Nokia.

I could swear the phone is just not doing it right.

I just forwarded a Gmail message to another email account I have. It looked fine in Outlook and in webmail.

Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express

I think i know the problem...it's the email subject...try to reply email that has less than 63 characters on the subject...otherwise some weird code would appear...
