Draining Li-ion batteries is actually a bad thing. I wouldn't do that. It's probably the worst thing you can do for it's life span.

Doesnt look normal. Pls try reseting the phone to factory setting and see. if not, it is a defective phone and you shoudl return it. Sorry to hear your problems but yes it may be hard when you get a defective phone. ATT should do better. why dont you contact Nokia Care?. May be they may route you to ATT.

As mentioned, new phones will have a lot of issues just like a brand new model of a car. it may have may recalls etc.. But they will be fixed.

Anyway if you return, enjoy your Iphone 5. Hope you wont have regrets later.

What a bunch of BS. Just list 20% of my battery on a 8 minute phone call. Since I can't get a replacement cyan 920 by Monday in getting rid of my Lumia. I don't want black white or red I wanted cyan. My battery is draining fast and I have everything off. Att said I have to ship it back and won't receive a replacement until the end of the month unless I go with another color. Good luck with all of your phones.

read the latest wpcentral post on the 920 battery. Is your NFC on? Is Bluetooth on? Nokia drive? Lots of live tiles?

1 live 1 Gmail not linked. I've drained the battery 2 times and filled charged it 2 times. It had until tomorrow to fix its self or its getting punted. As for the tone well sorry for that but its from speaking to brain dead people on the phone from Nokia and att. The Lumia specialist at nokia said all phones get hot after 3 minutes of use and being that it has a large screen I shoulder expect a good battery life ?

Try removing the Gmail temporarily. It killed my battery.

Lol it gets better. Att rep just called me to followed up with my complaint and said if I return my cyan to a store and exchange for any color other than cyan I have to pay $ 35 restocking fee because I'm switching colors even if they don't have cyan !! Lol omg

wow, the icing on the cake. i feel for ya man.

i'm having the same issues, ready to get rid of this thing due to battery life and bluetooth not working properly in my car (WP8 Pairing Issues with Car's Bluetooth - Microsoft Community)

i've done the hard reset as well as fully draining the battery and fully charging again, no change in battery life for me. i've had this thing for nearly a week now (got it Friday on launch day) so i feel like it has been through more than enough charge cycles to fix itself by this point, especially with how quickly the battery dies.

anyhow, good luck to you. i think i'll try for another 920 first and then if i still have issues i'm gonna jump ship.

edit - forgot to mention:
-all background tasks are disabled except for Weather.
-Wifi and Bluetooth are off
-NFC is off
-High sensitivity is off

How about you actually try the factory reset and report back?

They're making you pay an extra $35 because you're switching your cyan to a different color?!?! Well, that does it for me... AT&T IS run by crooks. Ridiculous!

I plan on doing the reset later. The att rep that called me was a return call from when I got cut off earlier with them. But yes the stores font carry the cyan model so if I go to a for store and swap for a nee phone which won't be a cyan because they font have them I have to pay $35 . Wow

Talk to a manager. They can waive that restocking fee in that case. Former AT&T employee here.

When you do the reset, don't restore from back up.. It may drag a battery sucking problem to the reset version... If that makes sense.

After a reset my battery life improved very rapidly. about two charging cycles.

It takes a couple of days (even weeks) for the battery to be trained and reach its full capacity. You haven't done that yet, hence the short battery life. This is simply the way Lithium batteries work, and if you think your iPhone/Android won't do the same, you're sadly mistaken.

In any case, good luck with your next phone.

Slight thread hijack.

For those that did a full reset, when you loaded back to your home screen did you still have all of the AT&T and Nokia apps installed?

I'm curious to know if there are apps baked into the OS image.

The L920 definitely improves over time. I too had absolutely TERRIBLE battery life and heating problems the first couple of days with my phone and now it's absolutely great, I never have to worry if it's going to make it through a day.

If it doesn't get better soon, I would definitely recommend exchanging it, it's quite possible to have a defective battery. Also I would recommend going to an actual AT&T store. Sales people are typically much more accommodating in person. Anyone with a brain would see that 1. It's silly to charge a restock for changing colors and 2. It's even sillier when you're out on the color you have. Even if it's a computer system thing, a manager will likely find a way to fix/waive it for you.

Yeah, they're baked into the OS.

My battery had serious calibration issues. I did a full discharge...and a little more detail about that:

I mean true full discharge...when your phone does an auto-shutdown, and says "goodbye", try to turn it on again. Because my battery calibration was out of sorts, the phone shut down when the OS thought I was out of charge, but when I pressed the power button, it turned back on. Keep discharging your battery until the power button does not turn on the phone.

After that, a full charge, and a hard reset, and I'm golden. I'm at 85% and I'm ten hours off the charger.

Five of those hours, I was in bed, and the phone went down to 96% in standby. The rest is typical usage over five hours (surfing the web, a few text messages, and tinkering with the phone because I love it.)

these threads are shocking for me. I have been getting great battery life so far lasting 20-22 hours with moderate use. I unplug my phone at 5:00AM and with moderate use I end up with 22% battery left around 9p

I'm swapping my red due to a signal cycling issue--retail didn't have any red and color swap was a restocking fee. They are ordering one for me and will call me when it's in so I can do the swap. Pretty easy really--said I would have it 24-48 hours at the latest.
