Ok this is probably a stupid question

I just got my red 920 via Fedex this afternoon. As soon as I plugged the phone in to charge I get a SIM error - The SIM card is missing or invalid.

The card is definitely there - it was installed by AT&T before shipment.

    I re-seated the card - same issue.

Is this coming up because I haven't activated the phone?

I am guessing not and that I either have a bum card or broken phone.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Your phone isn't activated yet. If it was activated before it shipped your current cell phone wouldn't have worked.

Call ATT and get it activated and that issue "should" go away...

Make sure the card is seated properly. I got mine and had similar issue...noticed that the little triangle cut out wasn't lined up properly. The sim will still fit in if in wrong...so double check the "triangle corners" are lined up properly.
