First in-app freeze... can't get out of app or turn phone off. Solutions?

So I was just watching videos on MetroTube and I think it froze when I was switching between apps, it got stuck at the loading screen, with the dots keep running but no videos could be loaded. None of the buttons (physical or touch) work right now but the weird thing is I can go to author and related videos in the app.
Usually I would just take the battery out and restart my phone, now I can't... any solution to this or do I have to wait till the battery is dead....?
Soft reset?

Does this kind of in-app freeze happen often to you guys? Is it the app's compatibility issue or the phone itself?

any freeze i've had only happened when i was using an app. so to me that means that the app isnt fully optimized with wp8.

I get probably at least one hard lock a day, isn't always in an app. Hopefully it's something that will get patched in the first update.
