Lumia 920 has 8.7 MP camera. But when we compare it with other 8MP race both have the same resolution of (3264x2448). So where is this 0.7MP lost?

From what I understand: 16:9 uses 8.7MP to closely match the number of pixels in the 4:3 mode that uses 8.0MP.

    16:9 is 7MP and 4:3 is 8MP ;)
But the 8,7MP matches the width for the 16:9 7mp pics.

(3264x2448) is no where close to 16:9 aspect ratio.

Thats why i said number of pixels and not dimensions...

It has to do with the aspect ratio... the extra .7 allows for the 16:9 ratio on the 1/3" sensor to match the pixels of the 4:3 ratio. Sounds like a little wiggle room so things can be stretched if you will...
