Lumia 920 silent mode setting

I have a Lumia 920 and was wondering if there was a setting so I could silence everything but calls from a set list of contacts. For example, I don't want to get texts or emails at night but would like to get an urgent call from a family member. Ideally I could set it so I could only get calls from a few contacts.

Unfortunately, WP8 does not support this feature yet. You can make a suggestion to Microsoft.

Another good one would be to have a separate volume control for the ring-tone vs music and other sound.

I just bought my first Smart Phone, a Lumia 810, which I generally like, but it is this kind of basic functionality that I have on my three year old Nokia flip phone which just isn't there. Search all you want. It is like a school kid's first effort. Maybe Microsoft should have hired Nokia to write Windows Phone.
