This may seem like an odd question, but before I buy on ebay, I just want to be sure. If I buy a carrier locked Nokia Lumia 920, will the phone continue to get updates (windows phone 'blue' update later this year etc), even though I'll be using a different sim card from the original owner?

Worst case if you didn't get working OTA updates, you could manually flash the update. Not ideal, but would work.

Yes, but if the software is branded, you'll get the same branded software in the update and only if said network approves it...
