i just painted the outside. had the inside covered so that it would not be painted to keep the case from getting thick due to the paint. and yes i used clear coat to protect the colored layer from scratches also to make it more glossy. the paint did not break or crack when i put the phone in carefully. although in my first experience with painting cc1043 using acrylic, (i painted over my red cc-1043 with clear coat to keep it from getting stained like my cyan cc-1043, also to make it glossy and it actually became same shade of glossy red as my red 920) installing it was no problem but when i removed the phone from the case the clear coat cracked at the corner edges of the top of the cutout for the screen, where the case would be stretched when removing the phone. all other areas were unaffected. although this time with the green paint when i removed it nothing happened, maybe the paint is more flexible or just thicker, i dont really know. maybe i just got lucky haha. so far lovin this green painted case so i guess i wont be removing it again anytime soon hehe. someone told me to try using "ts" tamiya paints (don't know what this is) because it is used for flexible stuff, havent tried it yet and am still gona go and look for it tomorrow. if you know that type of paint maybe you could try that. im from the philippines by the way.
for the tips, well, i just painted it like i would a car minus the primers etc. 1st layer of paint, let it dry thoroughly , slight wet sanding with very fine sandpaper 1500 to 2500 grit to smooth it out, 2nd layer then wet sanding again, you could go for a 3rd layer if you think the paint isnt thick enough for you yet, then clear coat, these days its very hot here, temps reach around 34-36 degress celsius so the paint dries up quick, i had this done in 4 hours although i let it stand to dry for another 4 hours to be sure..
so far so good been using it 2 days still good as new.no degradation so far. and the screen guard is placed just on the flat areas of the screen thats why it stays on. its not wet screen protector, just standard ones =)
