Has anyone successfully used Cortana in their car over Bluetooth? I can't get it to work in my 2013 Honda Crosstour EXL. I tried to post the link but I'm apparently too new to this forum. I'm guessing that it worked with the developer preview but not with cyan on the Lumia 920. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks.

I have mine synced like normal. I have a Chevy though, so I doubt yours would work anything like how mine works. Check your manual and see if there's a voice command invoke command. On mine, after syncing it both as a phone and as a music player I just have to hit my voice command button and say "voice" and it invokes Cortana. I can post a video later if you would like.

On my wife's 2013 Honda Ridgeline, there is a button on the steering wheel that you press to call people...is yours not like that?

There is a dummy number and I "call Cortana" from my fords voice button. I wish it just prompted her at button press because I feel the Ford sync voice commands are cumbersome.

I've got a new Acura with Bluetooth and I just recently downloaded the Developer Preview version of 8.1. When I synced my phone, it loaded Cortana into my list of contacts. I can call Cortana and it will wake her up on the phone, but she doesn't respond to anything I say. Because I am on Verizon (Icon) and only the DP version of 8.1, I don't have the Cyan update yet. I'm hoping this fixes this. It would be great to be able to use Cortana in the car.

I will have to try it...does yours car (probably the phone) make a loud two tone beep after the voice commands? My Ridgeline does and it is very loud. Also, the ringing is insanely loud, it turns the volume up on the truck, I think I disabled that in the Bluetooth settings on the vehicle though

I just realized that Cortana doesn't work in my car at all, a 2015 Acura TLX. I can manually wake her up so that she is listening or wake her up by speed or voice dial, but when I speak to her she doesn't respond and shuts off after a few seconds. Bluetooth phone and audio work just fine.
Outside of the car, she works great.
Any suggestions?

Just tested her in my 2010 Acura TSX and it works perfectly over Bluetooth. Guess my next call is to Acura.

This is the behavior I see on my Land Rover too, call her, the phone wakes up with the Cortana "Listening" screen for a few seconds and then quits. It doesn't respond to any voice. There is no tone or anything when it goes to the Cortana screen either. I imagine there is some audio link problem. I've read some people say they have to wait an inordinate amount of time for the Cortana "listening beep" on their systems, but mine never gets there.

Otherwise my 1520 (on the latest DP) works fine over Bluetooth with both phone and audio.

EDIT: found on a similar thread to look in the settings for Bluetooth->advanced. In there is is an option to "Use an alternate Bluetooth audio connection for Speech." Ticking that fixed it for me. :)

I just reported this to Acura and I think they will be getting back to me about this. I have a Nokia Icon with Verizon and, consequently, don't have Cyan yet. I was hoping Cyan might fix this. Do you have Cyan?

Once you have the GDR2 update, either by waiting til it comes out or installing it now with the Developers Preview, you will be able to add Cortana to your contact list as 555-555-9876. Then by dialing her thru whatever method works in your car (speed dial or voice dialing), she responds as she should.

My car was previously doing the same thing as yours (I could actually get her to work, bit I couldn't hear anything from her. I had to guess when she was ready for me to speak). But with this method, she works perfectly

By GDR2, do you mean Cyan? I have 8.1 Developer Preview but I don't think there is any way to get Cyan. I have the Nokia Icon.

No. Cyan is the firmware update for Lumia phones. GDR2 is an OS update from Microsoft. It works without Cyan. This is the update that also gives you app folders. You should be able to get it with the DP.

Yes, it's worked since last year with WP8.0 on my 2011 e90 BMW 335. With the addition of the call cortana function I was finally able to program a button to call her up since BMW doesn't let me tie her to the voice assistant button on my steering wheel.

Perhaps you can try the alternative method of connecting over bluetooth under Settings>Bluetooth>Advanced (Use an alternate BT audio connection for speech)

Not sure what that does, but it seems to have done the trick. THANK YOU!!! Now I'm anxious to see if it will read text messages as well.
