However, I noticed that the "Focus Assist Light" on the Lumia 920 was turned off, but on the Lumia 925 it was turned on. Does that make it an unfair comparison between the two?

Edit: The default setting of "Focus Assist Light" on the Lumia 920 is "ON" meaning it was deliberately switched off here. But it was left on for the Lumia 925. I understand that this light assists the camera in focusing in low-light conditions and that the camera does not capture the image when this light flashes, but nevertheless, I feel it should've been turned off on the Lumia 925 (or turned on on all devices) in the spirit of fairness.

According to the MNB guys (Jay) and his post from yesterday, the 925 was MUCH better than the 920 in low light...
He laments that his DSLR was not able to take properly focused photos of the results and that he wasnt allowed to take photos off the 925, but you can see the results for yourselves...
Its a wow moment for me...

aah, now I see what's happening. According to Imaging on the Nokia Lumia 925 part two: under the hood – Nokia Conversations : the official Nokia blog the ISO on the 925 is able to go all the way upto 3200, compared to 800 on the Lumia 920. And I believe this capability is coming to 920 with the Nokia Amber update. After that, the 920 should take very similar photos

So it sounds like the main things that are setting the 925 apart like the algorithms etc will be ported over to the 920 anyway? So while the 925 (and 928?) will have 6 element lenses, the 920 will still take basically just as good pictures. Am I right?

I believe so. I think the 6th lens was added to help the L925 take sharper images during day-light. At least that's what I read somewhere. It was a reaction to all the complaining about L920 producing "supposedly" washed out images during daylight.

i agree, similar photos, not same, as the 925 has that extra lens in it, which we will need to see what effect it makes....
fwiw, i asked a question of the author of the article, specifically asking about ISO 3200 coming to 920/928

sharper does not refer to less washed out photos....
sharper to me, means less soft photos.
the exposure/color balance should not be affected by the sixth lens, unless its also a filter of some kind?

I don't see the focus assist light as an unfair advantage. At the end of the day it's not the same as a flash and just gives the camera an idea on where to focus. Most high end cameras have it and it would be pointless to turn it off if it's already there.

925 = LED
928 = Xenon
and it looks like 928 to me

It's becoming clear that if you are into photo taking and like doing so with your device, this device has been build for that.

Ya, they are using a much higher ISO which means that the noise levels will be very high for the 925.. especially if you look at them on a bigger monitor.
