If I bought this unlocked from Amazon or another retailer, could I use the phone on US Cellular? I am kind of sick of Android. I have a Galaxy S4 and primarily use it for music, podcasts and reading the news. I had an 828 and liked it. The 928 looks awesome. The GS4 is just kind of blah. Idk what it is, but I just don't like Samsung products.

No. US Cellular is a CDMA carrier.

Unlocking means the ability to use any GSM carrier's SIM card. That would be AT&T, T-Mobile or MVNOs that use AT&T/T-Mobile networks.

CDMA carriers use a database of ESNs/MEIDs. They will not activate any device that is not branded to their own network. So you cannot use: VZW devices on US Cellular, Sprint devices on US Cellular, VZW devices on Sprint, Sprint devices on VZW, etc.
