So i told my best friend that I was going to possibly head back to the Android Army side of things because I wasn't entirely happy with Windows Phone(Mind you i also experimented with IOS and that was prettty blahhh). He told me that is a big mistake.

You guys here on Wpcentral also said the same thing :P

And the Verdict is...you were right :P

Don't get me wrong, the DNA is a lovely device. But after 3 years with Android and the past few months with WP8...coming back, I really realized that even with a Quadcore processor, Android is still laggy(though less laggy) and little things about Android simply annoy me.

Interesting Note: Monday I had quite a few reboots on my 8x....I got the DNA today and not a single reboot happened with my 8x...*eyeroll* :P

    1. Camera
One of the main reasons I was considering leaving was because of the camera quality...it's no Nokia Lumia 920, i know(believe me, i know....*cries to self*) but the camera on my 8x is simply
not that great. It's average at best.

My friend has a DNA and he swore up and down the pictures were amazing and it was the best camera he had ever used(of course coming from a Blackberry, I suppose that is true).
He also said that since Android allows manufacturers the freedom to do as they choose with their phones, that the camera might be better on the DNA.

To be honest....not really. In fact, since the DNA lacks a Camera button, It was harder to get pics to come out right because i had to use the onscreen button(+1 to WP requiring camera buttons).
The DNA's camera for some reason required me to do a lot of tinkering with it to adjust it properly. I routinely got overexposed/saturated pics like this and i had trouble getting it to focus properly.

The 8x's Camera has the camera button and thus was easier to get to autofocus...but it's colors appeared duller.

HTC should utilize the lens features of Windows phone 8 to incorporate the interesting effects they added for their android Camera.

Interesting fact, both use the same FFC however there is a huge amount of noise using the DNA's Camera. It's hard to believe this was 2.1 megapixels.
We took a few pics at dinner and i had to use my brother's Lumia 810 because i was not at all happy with the FFC.

Overall, HTC's camera really isn't the greatest...it's better than Motorola's or LG's but having used both a 920 and GS3, HTC is at best average.

    2. Screens
The DNA's screen is simply amaizng. I did watch a movie on it via netflix and some youtube and this screen is simply amazing.
My 8x is 720P and it has a lovely screen but it literally felt like i was almost in the scene when watching the videos/movie.

However, the screen is nice but it felt a little dull at the same time. The 8x has a lower res screen, yes but the colors were a bit more vibrant/brighter.
And when you add in the color of the tiles, the overall visual aspect of using both phones, everything seems brighter on the 8x.

I noticed this when browsing sites...especially sites with white backgrounds.

Metrotube really is a much more attractive Youtube client than the actual youtube client(for both WP and Android).

    3. Audio
Both run beats audio so overall the audio is the same.
However, i love the speaker placement on the DNA...it is on both sides of the phone(the 8x is on the bottom back). It gives it a more "Surround sound" feel. Audio on the 8x is good as well however if you place the 8x on a surface, the audio can become slightly muffled.

    4. User Experience/Performance
It's really hard to compare User Experience & Performance since both run with different specs and OS.

Compared to my brother's old Galaxy S3, the DNA really doesn't feel that much faster and at times it lagged in transitions compared to the GS3.
When Browsing(both on LTE & Wifi), my 8x was usually able to keep up with the DNA(IE 10 is actually good) but sometimes the DNA did get the upperhand on more graphically intensive sites...though the 8x wasn't too far behind.

    5. Annoyances of both phones

HTC stupidly placed the power button for the DNA in the middle...yeah you get used to it but really it is annoying.

Sense ruins this phone...I loved Sense because it made Android way more attractive but ever since Android started copying elements of windows phone(Hello, People?!?) Stock android is more attractive than sense and Sense feels like it is stuck in 2010 on the EVO 4G.

People talk about Apps, Apps, Apps...The Play store has tons of apps but i hate the way it is set up(It's another element that Google copied from WP). Much like a lot of Android, the market is cluttered and there is too much going on at one time....especially on the home page of the play store. I prefer the cleaner/minimalist look of the STORE for WP(Cue joke about minimal apps lol). that

    I also love the fact

It takes way too much time to do certain stuff on Android vs Windows phone....I remember when you could just long press on the home screen to change lock screen. Well apparently with the DNA it takes me 11 steps to change the lockscreen image. Now granted it took only 8 steps to the same thing on Windows phone. But then it takes forever to sift through various menus and settings to find what you are looking for on Android. Diving through menu after menu...backing out of the menu...going into another menu...it's annoying.

    6.Overall

Honestly, this phone is proof that HTC can make some awesome phones...as well as the 8x. Microsoft needs to allow 1080P screens for windows phone because this phone is amazing(would be better in a Cyan or Dark blue color) just has the wrong OS on it :P

HTC should really re-evaluate their game-plan...Android isn't really cutting it for the anymore(Samsung is far too powerful on Android & Google is backing Motorola and now LG looks to be climbing up high). Maybe they should shift even more focus to WP...their only competition is Nokia(Samsung & Huawei are non-factors) and there is more of a level playing field.

Hello HTC....it's 2008-2010 all over again...Remember when you were the first one with the G1 on T-mobile to embrace android and you brought out fantastic products....Android was young then...you know have the chance to start anew and make a name for yourself while WP is still in it's beginning stages. Before Nokia becomes the samsung of windows phone...

So the DNA shall go back.....I can't suffer through android and the Camera is even worse with the DNA.

    7. Also
I know people complain about the notifications disappearing at the top of the screen when they come in but i hope that they don't it the android way. It annoys me how cluttered the phone gets with all the icons at the top and half the time i don't even know WHAT icons some of these things are.

This is a good comparison.you sir are good at comparisons. Better than the ones I've seen. But i also think that in the very soon future MS would make WP support 1080p.

My USA friend. Has a DNA and she hates it so much. She'll rather have a flip phone than that. Because of the battery. Life. Couldn't even last her a whole day. On light usage. And she hated the memory. She understands the memory on the WP 8x. But the DNA memory is too unacceptable to her for a flagship phone.

HTC literally crippled the DNA. HTC should focus more on WP since MS is helping them and there are reports of the 8X and 8S stopping htcs renevue collapse

    Thanks :P

And yeah the battery life on the DNA Is horrid...

i read that the DNA being crippled is more of verizon than HTC because the DNA is an American variant of the HTC J butterfly and verizon asked HTC to basically remove the sd card access. Not sure how valid that is though.

Nice comparison. I'm currently running a Galaxy S3 on Verizon and considering a switch to WP. I love my Nexus 7 for games, etc but want something different on the phone side. Not sure on the 822 or 8X.

I've had a few HTC's on Android in the past and their batteries have been awful. HTC makes some good hardware but Sense needs an overhaul similar to what Motorola did with Blur or Samsung with Touchwhiz. Last, fix the damn battery problems

hmm, my favorite thing about my HTC one X is Sense. I love the way HTC lays stuff out and makes the lock screen actually go somewhere. My wife has a galaxy and i just dont really like the way it works. Hoping to really enjoy WP tho, my lumia should be here by friday.

Yes it was a bit of an ordeal to get it :P
Since it isn't in the store. it's "Special Order"

Red 8X must be the most popular of Verizon's HTC Stock

I don't mind Sense overall but HTC could lighten it up a bit, widgets galore! Ran buttery smooth on my old Incredible 4G though.

true that. my big bro had a Wildfire S and the battery was absolutely horrible. Though he now has a WP 8X. he's all goods. for you man (Wobblin30). I recommend waiting for a while since there's likely upcoming WPs for Verizon. But right now. I think it's the 8X is the best, depending on how much memory your S3 has
