Exactly! Hardware is not, and never was, Windows Phone's biggest issue. Had it been, the deal with Nokia would have solved it. This is also why I fail to see how the HP Elite x3 or the rumored Surface Phone are going to solve anything. Sure, W10M might be a bit more relevant by the time those devices are released, but if it is, it will also come to existing Lumias, at least the most recent ones.
Lumia hardware already holds its own against almost anything on the market. Get the OS and its ecosystem relevant, and the device as a whole can compete. HP or Surface hardware is not going to magically pull WP into relevance.
