[Official] Initial thoughts on Developer Preview of WP8.1

This is your home for giving off your first impressions about developer preview on WP8.1!

Are you stoked? Are you disappointed? Did it match your expectations? Will you sleep better tonight? Will Cortana be your new pal? Will your wife be the most annoyed person on this planet? Will your mates be jealous now? Do you want to throw this in bin and get a new iPhone?

[TIP]- There are two updates - first one is a small one, second is MASSIVE.
- Your update installation will depend on your WiFi
- It will take anything between 20 to 60 minutes
- KEEP YOUR PHONE PLUGGED TO CHARGER
- First update may take longer after 80% - don't worry.
- Second update will take ages at cog wheels when progression bar is about 5-10% : Literally 10-15 minutes, don't panic.
- Second update will take ages again about 94-98% when it prepares to install or when its installing: DON'T PANIC.

As long as you had 50% or more battery and you have plugged your phone to charger, you should be ok. Just make a cup of tea and enjoy it.[/TIP]

Guys, my 920 began downloading the 8.0 update that enables the 8.1 update and for 10 minutes I have the spinning gears with the progress bar apparently not advancing.

Anyone facing the same issue?

EDIT: It appears to be working now!!!

there will be two updates, one smaller one .166
after you're done with it you will download an install a significantly larger one.

.166 tells you you are ready to get 8.1 preview, so the larger one probably is 8.1

Don't worry about spinning gears until you've seen them for over 30-40 minutes. Currently installing second larger update at 85%.

I got 2 updates.

First one it installed, restarted - total time 5 minutes max.
Second one it downloaded real quick and installed for about 10 minutes and is still doing it... so either 2nd one is the update, or there is another one queued up. I have a feeling second one is "the update".
