Received an update today...but what was it all about?!?

So I received an on screen notification this afternoon, telling me that there was an update for my phone (Samsung ATIV S with Bell Canada provider). The update took around and hour and a half, using my work WiFi connection. It's now all installed...but I see nothing different. In Settings/About it tells me that I am on OS version: 8.0.10328.78 with Firmware revision number: 2212.13.6.1 I can't seem to find a changelog anywhere for what today's large update was for. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Nope, 8.0.10328.78 is part of Update 2. Which is interesting; according to the update history it's either this update or 8.0.10327.77, followed with this note:
**Your update version number depends on your specific phone model and mobile operator.

Did Bell/Samsung initially give us the "wrong one" or is this a precursor to the upcoming Update 3? Curious...

MS updates are cumulative, black will be released soon

The problem is that the OS version is a parallel move, from 8.0.10327.77 to 8.0.10328.78. The update history page says it's one or the other depending on carrier and device. There's no reason, at least yet, for the change.

Yes, black is for Nokia, your phone will download all cumulative ms updates prior to updating to update 3, this is irrespective of carrier models, 10328.78 then update 3 will follow, you can't skip updates

I have OS 10521.155 and Firmware 1328.2046 but no update for me though I have preview for developers on.

You already at the highest OS version, you will only receive firmware update from your OEM, 10328.78 is an OS update not firmware

just strange since it updated to 10327.77 in august. thought that was gdr2 in its enirety

It was for your specific region/ carrier, you should be happy, you will be getting update 3 soon, normally you would get all the updates at once, 10328.78 along with update 3 updates

And this is the Samsung Ativ S section. So why are you telling us all about Nokia updates?

I got my gdr2 update this morning. Just update and forget about it. The update DOES NOT DO anything obvious to Samgsung mobile.

I've noticed the phone no longer crashes during boot, at least it hasn't in the 4 times I've booted since getting the update.

Now that's good news! I always cringe when I have to shut my phone down, as it takes ages to boot back up. Worst time it tried 14 times to boot up before finally getting to the home/main screen, but generally took only 3 or 4 cyclings. As I say, great news if this updated resolved that!
