Is the Surface Book 2 just TOO expensive?

I've been with the Surface brand since the RT days. Call me biased, but I fell in love right from the start, and I still have an RT running in the house. Moved up to the SP3 when it came out, and this is still my daily driver with nigh a hickup. It might have cost a pretty penny, but seeing it's...

Reminisce of a good time you had with Windows 10 Mobile.

I remember when I was in China with a group of friends. None of us could read anything on any signs or menus, and none of my friends had internet on-the-go, so had it not been for my Lumia 950XL with its offline camera translator abilities, it would have been very difficult indeed! Then the...

I'm standing my ground, and sticking with Windows Mobile.

As a tech geek, I felt the need to keep up during this transitional phase, which is why I currently rock a GS8. However, still after many months, I can't get used to lots of things, and even miss certain things from W10M. So, if and when Microsoft sorts out its mobile business I will be back...

For Windows 10 Mobile users (What are you doing with your current device?)

My 950XL is my second driver now since I got a Galaxy S8 recently. Need to replace the bad battery on the 950XL, but otherwise I'll be using it as secondary/backup phone. Might rejoin the Insider programme and check in now and then to see if anything new has arrived...

I gave up on the 950 XL

Yes, I've figured it must be the battery, because it never randomly turns off or restarts when on charger. Problem is, I don't know if I want to spend more on it. It's already cost me a lot, because once the entire PCB had to be changed (granted, on warranty, but still lots of problem as I don't...

    Any photographers using Surface Pro?

I'm a semi-pro and freelance every once in a while, but it's not my bread and butter. That said, my SP3 has served me for a number of years as an excellent on-the-go machine for editing. With 256GB, 8GB RAM and its USB-A port(!) for external HDDs, I've had no issues, neither performance- nor...

Are you convinced? Daniel Rubino did a great job!

Man, wouldn't mind winning one, but if I bought a new Surface of some kind, I'd still go for SP (to replace my SP3), after reading Engadgets review pointing out the insane battery life! It's literally the only thing my SP3 could have done better.

Is the New Surface Pro for 1080p video editing & rendering?

Really? My SP3 holds battery well when in sleep. I frequently come home, forget to unpack and still find it in my bag the next day, with only a few percent charge gone. It's never died on me, even when left for days off the charger.

I gave up on the 950 XL

IMHO, the camera is the only reason I'm still sticking with my 950XL. The rest of the phone is becoming meh'ier and meh'ier with less and less support and apps, not to mention it's experiencing random restarts that I can seem to solve no matter what. I won't be sending it in for service, but it...

Pics comparing the new Surface Pro (2017) and the Surface Pro 4

I think the most refined feature for me would be the change of the vent line. To me, it makes the tablet look even thinner without all the obvious perforations.

What are you doing without USB-C?

Re: What are you doing without usb-C? I think a lot of people think that tech nerds will spread the info about the missing USB-C and cause an uproar amongst the average joe looking for a premium device like the SP, but the fact is that most people will be like "What are you talking about? It...

Surface Pro 2017's battery life is really impressive!

Ooh! I thought it was already amazing to get 5-6h with my (ageing) SP3 i5! Nice to see how far the SP-series has come!

Are you going to shell out $500 (or more) for Xbox One X?

You're forgetting a number of things. Some Xbox games in the past weren't well optimised to take advantage of Xbox One's (or S') power. Blame that on developers. Also, games that will be running in 4K(60) are likely to be extremely optimised to achieve that, so saying it's impossible without...

Is the New Surface Pro for 1080p video editing & rendering?

If you intend to use a Surface Pro for video editing, definitely avoid the Core m3. It should be at least i5 with 8GB RAM, judging from my experiences with working in Premiere Pro away from home onn my SP3. If I were you and really wanted the SP, I would wait until somebody tests the fanless i5...

Why is USB Type-C so important for it to be on a Surface device????

When the Surface connector to USB-C comes out, I will buy one so I can plug in power banks. It's been my wish to power from a power bank since I got my SP3. Outside of that, I couldn't care less about USB-C, it's not like it's powerful enough to utilise the full capabilities of USB-C/TB3 anyway.

    Surface pro for creator

I've done work in both photoshop and premiere pro when I've been travelling, no problem with my SP3. Slower rendering in premiere pro, but beats having to carry a device three times as big and heavy.

    Surface pro for gaming

I have an SP3, and for occasional light gaming when I travel, awesome, but any new(er) titles I leave until I get home and can play on my gaming PC. Do not buy SP for gaming (outside of UWP games)!

    Surface Pro for Programming

I do recommend at least 8GB, but for the rest, you should have no problem whatsoever with programming on it, neither now or in the future. FIY, I use Visual Studio 2017 (user applications), Netbeans (Java), IAR embedded workbench (for embedded devices), Quartus II (for VHDL/FPGA), Notepad++...

    Surface GIVEAWAY contestants gather here

I have a QWERTZ type cover that I bought in Germany, even though I'm used to QWERTY. It doesn't feel like a problem for me, since I can just change the keyboard language settings to the languages I type in. Y will still be in the same place as before, even though it says Z. Muscle memory.
