Here's why Windows Subsystem for Android got killed off, according to a 29-year Microsoft veteran

I'm not too surprised. When i tried it, only apps from the Amazon Appstore could be installed and there didn't seem to be a clear way to "sideload" apps or other app stores onto it. Plus it kept on triggering my webcam/microphone and that was creepy as f***.

Five lesser PowerToys features you should be using on Windows 11

What I find useful is the inline special characters input. ₩αäèæ just press and hold a letter then immediately press an arrow key. so much easier then remembering alt codes.

With Microsoft distracted, the Xbox console experience is suffering

I've been wondering about that. I get the impression that Microsoft may be working on the next gen Xbox now, and it's going to have some dramatic changes. To the point that the next Xbox may be running Windows 12 with a Xbox experience pack, and third party manufacturers like Dell or Razer will...

Does the Yeelight Voice Assistant with Cortana actually exsist?

But it can be imported and the language changed, right?

Does the Yeelight Voice Assistant with Cortana actually exsist?

I found news that yeelight made a smart speaker that looks a little like a Dot, but runs Cortana and is 200 Yuan ($30USD). However, I have not found a single place that offers it for sale or says where it will be sold. is it vapourware?

Who is planning to buy HoloLens?

Last I checked the HoloLens is being used in several big businesses, and different tools are being developed for it. I'm not aware of Google working on anything similar, and magic leap is so secretive that if they aren't vapourware they will have a hard time garnering developer interest - while...

    Who is Andromeda For?

It's for me. I have a good desktop that I use 90% of the time, but occasionally I want to do stuff that I'd find limiting on a 5" screen. I can't really justify a laptop or tablet because for the amount of times I use it it will sit in a drawer most of the time, so when I go to use it it will...

I think I might know the cause for macOS/iOS's recent super bugginess.

This is conjecture based on the following tidbits. Apple has the tendency to launch a new OS with a bug, fix the bug, then have the exact same bug pop up again in a newer release Apple is known to be a very secretive company, even internally Insider reports indicates that Apple is a very high...

Is Windows on Arm still a 2017 thing?

Except the whole reason for this gong show is that you CANNOT just "force" Windows developers to migrate. They will either update their apps or they won't, and they most likely wont. That's why Windows RT was dead on arrival (well that and the windowing environment). However, taking these baby...

    Spotify Family?

It won't make a difference, as Spotify Family is multiple accounts that are linked to the same bill. When you upgrade to spotify family, you can create invites to other people (who already have free Spotify accounts set up) and the Invite will upgrade them to Premium. You have to confirm your...

    Official Surface Phone Rumors Thread

I didn't even see this. Yeah a Z fold makes more sense and means that we get more normal screen ratios. And I think Microsoft is simply avoiding the word "phone" as a marketing tactic.

For a Microsoft eco-system purist, which is better: iPhone or Android?

Honestly I'd say Android, but only a Pixel or a Blackberry. You can install all of the Microsoft apps to ease the transition, but the Blackberry suite is very comprehensive. You can pick up a Z30 for fairly cheap and it's still a very good phone.

Is Windows on Arm still a 2017 thing?

https://www.engadget.com/2018/03/20/asus-novago-48-hours-preview/ They seem to be fine. They are not workstation level but they are good enough for most use cases.

Should the Andromeda phone be a Z-fold?

Long story short, making 360-degree hinges is extremely difficult when you expect it to unfold to a seamless display, but you can't just have a clamshell case otherwise either both screens will always be exposed or both with be inaccessible. A Z-fold would mean that only one screen would be...

Alcatel Idol 4S Unlocked $99 @ Microsoft Store

I bought an Idol 4S with the VR headset for $250CAD last year. I bought a second one for $125CAD so I'd have a backup phone in case I break my primary. I don't think I'll ever need it but these are awesome phones.

Alcatel 4S - forgot my pin. How long are pins?

*checks* Pins can be set to an unlimited length. But the typing buffer is only as long as the current pin (the reason why you don't have to hit submit after typing your pin even if it's incorrect)

Is windows phone now considered a basic phone?

If it's a basic phone, it's the best damn basic phone on the market. But in all honestly everything I need works and everything that doesn't work I learned to make do so I don't even remember or care which things they were. It's certainly the phone I'd recommend to any technophobe that isn't...
