Thanks for posting this. I cannot tell what Surface 4 config you have but I have a i5,256gb with 16GB ram and only had the fan come on once initially and again during an update. Even though I spent 2~ 3 hours doing extensive editing of photos between Lightroom and Photoshop CC @ 75% brightness-...
Are any updates being applied during this time? It does take windows time to bootup/shutdown when updates are getting applied. You have to allow it to complete.
With such a compact design you'll have to compromise on some things. These units will never compete on battery life with a dedicated notebook, unless new battery tech is introduced. There is just no way. Also with regards to battery, this tablet won't compete with an iPad or android tablet...
I know what you mean. But 13% isn't bad considering the background checking going on during this period (e.g. wifi connection). I wish I could remember the stat from MS. It's was ridiculously low.
I don't plan to use this feature expect through the day. When the day is over I shut'er down the...
You know I can't recall the doc but there was some specification to mfg re: Connected Services battery drain goal of 1% per hour....something really small. I never achieved this with the Dell Venue.... it had it's own challenges..
An update- for Surface 4 i5 16gb
This is my analysis.
11/4-11/5 (night test): battery beginning @ 100%. Over 8 hours on standby with hibernation turned off. Notes- no open programs before connected standby, Hello-turned off, battery saver enabled before connected standby. Placed near the wifi...
I don't have on yet but have a $50 credit with MS. I do own a BAND and have dwelt with the need for a screen protector to avoid scratches. I'm reading the "band 2" is new and improved with the Gorilla glass. If you own one, how do you feel about the durability of the glass? Are you seeing...
I'm Brian...into tech. Older guy started with an Apple II plus- still have it. Been using mobile devices since the Sharp Wizard. I'm partially posting this meet the 10 post requirements so that I can include links.
I just did a connected standby test last night with hibernation off, Hello enabled and chrome open to cnn. In 8 hours I had 17% drain or 2.12 per hour. I'm going to post a follow up to this once I get through some forum posting issues.
I haven't experienced this with the Surface 4 but I had this a lot with the Dell Venue pro 11. The compatibility between the wifi card in the Surface and your Router could be introducing this problem. This is long shot, but have your upgraded your router firmware? I'm thinking it's your...
I have i5 16gb model. I had the fan come on once when I was editing photos between Lightroom and Photoshop- makes sense. Another time when the last firmware update was installed. I just watched an hour on netflix plugged in and no fan. I'm just not seeing it....or hearing it:)
Yes turned Windows Hello off once I read about the issue yesterday. Also I didn't mention but I installed this--winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm (I cannot post actual links since I'm new to this site)
Another post suggested this and I didn't see the harm. The Ads have diminished too. And I...
Ran a test last night with a Surface 4 - i5, 256gb with 16gb ram. Hibernation turned off. No open apps. Unit closed and presumably in Connected Standby (or instantgo).
In 8 hours I had a 18% drain - per Sleep Study; however, I cannot really pinpoint why. The graphs in the sleep study are not...
Re: What about the "Other" storage section ?
Doesn't seem like a valid response to me. That's not right to count on an "update" or hard reset to clear out this directory.
yes. I ran into the same problem. I inserted by sd card from my android and it would not show up as an external drive in explore when connected. I reformatted the card to NTFS just to see but the phone notified it could not read it and suggested formatting the card from within the phone. So...
