Fiance is taking a trip to Spain soon, and we were wondering if there's anything special she'd need to do to use the phone with a pre-paid SIM from Spain... if such a thing exists. My vague understanding is it should pop to life, but I may be mistaken. Our other option is one of AT&T's temp...
Re: High mobile data usage from "System"-950 XL
Oddly enough, I started seeing a similar issue on my fiances phone. Her data is off, and she's used ~500GB already for the billing cycle. (We've had the phones since AT&T launch).
This evening I'm going to remove the GMail account from her phone...
Took a quick look and it does appear you're correct. GG 4 is better at preventing shattering when dropped at the expense of some scratch resistance. Larger screen size on the XL would make shatter resistance a bit more important than scratch resistance.
I've had my Lumia 950 for about 2 weeks now, and everything is hunky dory. My fianc? has even told me on a few occasions that she LOVES her phone.
The camera is really stunning. It's not leaps and bounds better than other top end cameras, but it's impressive none-the-less. Pictures are sharp...
Comparing white on AMOLED to white on an LCD isn't really fair. Like comparing idle fuel consumption in a Prius to full throttle on a Ford C-Max Hybrid. LCDs typically "default" to an "open" state, so white uses less power than on the AMOLED. MS used to display a warning about this on phones...
It is strong. My fianc? dropped her phone the other day onto the concrete ground (fell out of her pocket), no damage at all. I was pretty surprised/impressed.
Are you an Insider? Are you comfortable with Windows 10 in its current state? If yes, then you should consider upgrading. Changes are marginal, but not insignificant.
If you are not an Insider, or you find yourself switching back to 8.1 on your 930 due to issues with Windows 10, stick with the...
Ok, an update... and good news!
Working with a rep at AT&T, he noticed a weird provisioning issue on the line. Cleared it out, reset the mailbox, and voila, it works.
Just to make this clear...
Switched 2 lines from Verizon (I had the luxury, tired of their BS)
Restored backup - Previous backup was from a W10 Lumia Icon
Setup VM - no VVM
Chatted with AT&T, they provisioned the line, told me to check VM, enter pin in prompt.
Checked VM, no prompt.
Had fianc...
Thanks for the tip, but still no dice. I spent a bunch of time with AT&T in a chat yesterday, but work meetings called so I had to end the chat. I'll harass them some more and see if they can help.
Gonna wake this up...
No VVM here, convert from another carrier, did restore from backup. AT&T said they provisioned the line, restarted, checked VM, had fianc? leave a message, nothing. No PW/PIN prompt, no VM tab, nada.
My fianc? is blind as a bat with no eyes, so I might have her try with her glasses just to see. Works fine with her contacts though. I saw Peter Bright had no luck with it with his glasses.
It's all but guaranteed a new phone will be released before your upgrade is due. Cadence is annual for most companies, people gave MS LOTS of crap because the Icon was the last flagship, and it's not even 2 years old. If you want to upgrade early, go on AT&T's NEXT plan, or pay full price.
