    regarsing security in windows phone

As pankaj said, use Kid's Corner. Or just don't let other people use your phone. (Unfortunately, there's no option to allow phone calls from Kid's Corner.)

    regarding killing apps

Well, except for some apps such as Internet Explorer, which continues to run scripts even if you "back" out to "close" it. And there's also the related problem of paused/tombstoned background apps taking forever to "resume" when it would just be faster to kill and relaunch the app. And there's...

whats the verdict on battery life?

Certainly if you turn off all phone and networking functionality and don't use the device at all, the battery will last a fair amount of time. But even with just the radios on (battery saver enabled) and no actual use of the device, you'll see the battery drain itself within a couple of days...

    WP in the US.

This has been elaborated on in other posts in other threads, but just as a recap: 1) Podcasting downloading is very spotty; sometimes podcast episodes won't automatically download and sometimes don't even show up in the app catalog, even though they've been published and are available using...

    Windows T9 keyboard os request

I'd say a Swype-style keyboard and system-wide support for [fast and accurate] voice input would be a better solution for most people. Certainly T9 has its uses and its adherents, but it's not a forward-looking technology in the slightest.

Taken for granted (a comparison of WP8's advantages over iOS7)

As a consumer, I don't have an obligation to suffer in order to make some future Windows Phone better. Neither do you. Consumers can and should choose the best product on the market for their particular needs. Right now, if someone wants a smartphone with decent app (or...

5 apps you would really like to see on WP8.

    1. Any decent web browser (won't happen on WP8, but maybe 8.5 or 9 if Microsoft loosens its policies) 2. Any decent music playback app (see above) 3. Any decent video playback app (see above) 4. Any decent podcasting app (see above) 5. Any decent strategy/board/card game

    WP in the US.

Play music/podcasts, browse the web, and play games. Windows Phone fails hard in all three categories (as well as Google and other 3rd party support). If WP succeeds in earning significant market share, it will be with devices like the 520/521 that appeal to first-time, budget-oriented...

    Newbie Questions.

If you have particular email accounts and/or a unified inbox, the icon for the Outlook tile on your homescreen may change. So it may already be there and pinned, just different in appearance from what you expect. If you turn on battery saver, most apps (including email) will switch to manual...

    Nokia 520

It's a relatively recent phone, but it is the lowest-end Windows Phone 8 device. If you're familiar with iPhones, it's probably equivalent to something between 2009's 3GS and 2010's iPhone 4 (closer to the 3GS) in terms of performance and usability, but with much worse 3rd party support and lots...

    Firefox for Windows phone 8

As noted elsewhere, Microsoft does not allow alternative browsers on Windows Phone 8. UC Browser and the others are merely skins on top of IE10/Trident. So you can get different menus and buttons, but the actual rendering engine is the same. Until Microsoft changes its policies (not likely)...

Video PLayers? Where are the Video Players.

If you've tried using WP8's music playback, you shouldn't be surprised at how bad video playback is as well. WP8 is extremely lacking in basic capabilities, including music and video playback. If you wanted something that worked for those purposes, you should have bought an iPhone or Nexus device.

Op?ra and Dolphin Browser for Windows Phone?

Opera Mini is way, way faster (and lighter on data usage) than IE10 even on Wikipedia. Honestly, you should try to use both. There's no comparison. (That said, some HTML5 features require quite a bit of client-side/post-loading rendering, so obviously something that's pre-rendered is going to...

Kids Corner: Not Just for Kids :)

I wish I could add the Messaging, Phone and Photos apps to Kids Corner. Then I could give my parents WP8 devices and not have to worry about them unpinning apps or accidentally launching Bing.

Is Wi-Fi calling option free or is charged as for making phone calls?

Wi-Fi calling is a T-Mobile feature. It routes calls over WiFi instead of cellular, but you are still charged the same per-minute rates as you normally would be. It's primarily useful if you're in an area with bad cellular coverage but a usable WiFi network.

WP8 questions from an Android user

    1. UC Browser and the other browsers in the app store are pretty much just skins for IE. UC does have a nice interface, though. 6. Google's websites don't play well with WP8's IE (or any of the skinned versions). It's pretty much like using a featurephone/dumbphone. Is that adequate...

What are some of your favorite apps for the Lumia 521?

Adobe Reader - for PDF files, since there's no built-in support Baconit - a fantastic interface for reddit Facebook - the built-in version is pretty lacking i Podcast - the built-in podcast support in Xbox Music is horrendous Nextgen Reader - the best newsreader I've come across for WP (but...

Kiddie Korner like feature of WP8 now in LG G2. They call it Guest Mode

Android has had support for multiple user profiles for quite some time, although Google has limited it to tablets only. One of the nicer elements with Android's implementation is that settings are not shared across profiles -- so each user/guest has their own email inbox/settings, own web...

    Top 100 Apps Availability Analysis

Games make up a full third of app downloads on Android/iOS and two-thirds of app revenue. It's disingenuous to exclude such a large category of apps in such a comparison.

Low end iPhone vs Lumia 520/620

The 520/521 is $99-$149 off-contract. Apple's "low-cost" iPhone (likely iPhone 5 internals in a plastic shell) will almost certainly be two to three times that price ($300+ off-contract). The two aren't competing head-on any more than any two arbitrary devices are. Seriously? I'm reminded of...
