Lumia 640, 1 year later: Are you still using it?

Happy New Year everyone! I did the downgrade thing on my 640 drawer phone which I had upgraded to Win10 in spring or early summer iirc - it feels like a time travel back to 2014, when the platform was yet marginal but promising at the same time due to ui consistency and supreme performance...

Should I switch back to Windows 10 Mobile or stick with Android for the time being?

I was fire & flame for Windows 8.1 for phones, used a Lumia 830, then a Lumia 640. In the Windows mobile bubble I didn't feel the need for apps outside of WinMo. What made the platform preferable from my pov? - fast system on minor hardware - offering an outstanding battery life - security and...

Lumia 640, 1 year later: Are you still using it?

That's why in discussions like this I always feel a kind of gratitude towards those people who still have faith in the appeal of the platform and more important the company behind it. For me the underlying reason for abandoning Windows for phones was the loss of faith in the latter. BTW nice...

Lumia 640, 1 year later: Are you still using it?

Hi Werentuckl. True, simply comparing both phones' hardware would be misleading. But taking into account the operating system and the software running on it in, I have to say, that for me Windows 10 annihilated most of the advantages Windows 8.1 had over Android without offering true advantages...

Lumia 640, 1 year later: Are you still using it?

Although having left Windows on phones last year, I still have a L640 LTE in the bottom drawer just out of curiosity. To see how the sluggish, battery killing mess Win10 was on that fine device is going to develope. Well, yesterday I updated to Anniversary and I have to say, everything feels...

And the Legend Lives On: The Nokia Battery

Sorry to spoil the myth about Android being a battery sucker. My Galaxy S5 Neo has a battery use time of about 4 to 5 days of medium use (telephony, sms, browsing with Firefox, camera and several other apps like DWD Warnwetter, TinyScanner and Medigong. And this is on the latest terrible...

    Xbox One vs. PS4

Now that Microsoft has basically ravaged Xbox One in order to proliferate their Windows 10 (which I deeply hate), I'm gonna leave the platform and look for Steam machines or get a PS4 (or rather a Neo). It was mostly fun over 2.5 years and I invested a lot in games and supplies, but I'm leaving...

Problems with W10M on my L640 so far

Ok, upgraded my provider-free Lumia 640, which is my backup phone in case of e defect with my daily used one atm, yesterday. Did a hardreset, uninstalled apps i don't use and let the rest update. No errors occurred, but why does the Windows app and other MS standard apps like contacts etc. take...

    Best Browser for Windows 10?

Firefox with tracker-, script- and ad-blocking capabilities. Internet in general is irrelevant without these.

Switching platforms? | Thinking of leaving?...comment here!

To be honest, the switch to Android didn't require me to readjust that much, because I'm using it on tablets since Icecream Sandwich. And the Galaxy S5 Neo is a great phone: Huge battery runtime (even compared to the L640), fast and responsive interface (with TouchWiz degreased a lot), a...

Switching platforms? | Thinking of leaving?...comment here!

Re: New user here After 16 months of using Windows Phone on Lumia 830 and 640 (both of which had to be sent for repair due to very prominent flaws btw) I have left the platform for several reasons. First of all, Windows 10 for Mobile is ante portas and from what I hear and know the transition...

    830 Battery Life.

There was definately a decrease in runtime after I launched the 8.1 Update 2 on my old 830. Even after hard resetting the device. Interesting thing is, with a new/refurbished device (I received due to a repair) the battery runtime is back to normal.

    Change in manufacturing the L830?

The picture I took today was under 'neutral' light conditions, I'm afraid though it just gives a slight hint to what I'm pointing at.

    Change in manufacturing the L830?

It's for sure a 830 and the frame is not the silver one of the models with the other-than-black color variants. II noticed it first when I looked at the much more accentuated antenna parts on the upper and bottom frame. Those are actually deep black. Not so much the frame. My guess would be...

    Change in manufacturing the L830?

A few months ago I encountered the infamous 'screen peeling off problem'. After sending the device for repair I received a whole new unit in return. On the second look it became apparent that the metal frame of the returned device differed a lot concerning surface finish and even color. The...

Got my 830 today... Screen is loose!

What I didn't notice until this morning when closer examining the returned device, was, that not only the display section has been exchanged but the phone on the whole. The extras menu shows a build creation date 8 months behind the date of my purchase. I don't think they exchanged the phone...

Got my 830 today... Screen is loose!

The phone returned today. The whole display unit got exchanged. Aside from the loosening display unit, the display showed four bright spots only to be seen on a bright background; another problem widely discussed.

The same thing exactly happened to my Lumia 830 two weeks ago; it's on repair now. I'll report back later.

    Lumia 830 performance.

System behaviour is the same on both phones, however the 640's battery life is twice as long as with the 830. Here my post in the 640 forum: http://forums.windowscentral.com/microsoft-lumia-640/377772-%5Bquick-impressions%5D-who-has-gotten-lumia-640-a.html#post3224839
