Automatically turn on Focus Assist based on location

Have you ever encountered a Windows app that is able to perform actions - like changing the state of some setting - based on a geofencing trigger or something similar?

Automatically turn on Focus Assist based on location

Thanks, I'm already aware of the settings that Windows offers. It does not include the ability to turn on Focus Assist based on location. Hence my question.

Automatically turn on Focus Assist based on location

I'd like to be able to turn on Focus Assist automatically when I get to my university campus. It's pretty easy to do something similar on my Android phone, but the Focus Assist triggers on my tablet (MS Surface Go) do not include anything related to location or, say, presence of a certain Wi-Fi...

    wpcsc64.exe crashes

I just got a replacement Surface Go from MS (under warranty). I brought the system up to date, and installed a few apps. Behold, lots of wpcsc64 crashes! So Microsoft has not resolved this problem yet. As before, disabling the PanelCalibration service seems to make the crashes stop.

    ePub reader with text search

Calibre is an amazing program - I use it to manage my collection of ebooks. However, I'm looking for a lightweight Windows Store app to read books. I've looked at several, but haven't found one that a) has a clean UI, b) is stable and c) allows text search within a book.

    Crash in Qcamain

Has anyone else seen this crash? The info is from the Reliability and Problem History. I believe this is a crash in the Qualcomm WiFi driver. I think it started to happen with the 1903 update (aka May 2019 Update).

    ePub reader with text search

I am looking for an app that can be used to read ePubs and provides text search within a book. The only app I've found that provides search is Freda. This app has a rather clumsy UI, and - even worse - often crashes on my Surface Go running Windows 10 1909. Has anyone found another e-book...

    wpcsc64.exe crashes

I am running Windows 10 build 1809 in S mode on my Surface Go. I was seeing frequent crashes in wpcsc64.exe - about one every other day. I wasn't able to find out just what this EXE does, but it appears to be related to the PanelCalibration Service. I have disabled this service, and so far, no...

The May 2019 upatd is finally here on Win 10s

I have updated my Surface Go to 1903 twice, once with Insider builds and a second time with the public release. Both time I experienced system crashes. 1809 is far more stable.

Edge Insider on Windows 10 S

Well, I got it to work. I ran the Compatibility Troubleshooter on the EXE and it suggested running it in Windows 8 mode. I did so, and it successfully installed Edge Insider.

Edge Insider on Windows 10 S

I previously had Edge Insider installed on my Surface Go running Windows 10 S. I just got a replacement tablet, and when I try to install Edge Insider, I get the message that says you can only install MS-approved apps on Windows S. If it matters, I'm stuck on version 1809 of Windows 10 -...

Powercfg equivalent for Windows 10 Pro S?

Is there an equivalent to powercfg that will run on Windows 10 Pro S? I'm specifically interested in the info from "powercfg /requests".

Type cover problems and update 4476976

Hi, all Like many people I have had intermittent problems with the Type Cover on my Surface 3. Windows would usually report that the last USB device failed to connect. Detaching and reattaching the Type Cover, or restarting the Surface, fixed the problem. After installing update 4476976, these...

Display weirdness in Edge, Store, etc.

Has anyone else noticed weird rendering in Edge, the MS Store and on the lock screen? The letters of text strings are fragmented, and rectangular elements have diagonal lines overlaid. Turning off hardware acceleration in Internet Options seems to fix this in Edge and the Store, but not on the...

How to keep streaming audio playing during 'sleep'?

Thanks for the quick reply, gomezz. Perhaps I should have explained that my question relates to running Edge on a tablet rather than on a phone. My observation has been that Windows 10 Mobile handles power management very differently from Windows 10 non-Mobile.

How to keep streaming audio playing during 'sleep'?

Lots of internet radio apps can do it. Is there a way to configure Edge to keep playing streaming audio from a website when my tablet (a Surface 3, not that it should matter) goes to 'sleep'? Of course I could change my power settings to never go to sleep - but then I'd have to change back...

High CPU usage in MS Edge

MS Edge often consumes 80+% CPU on my Surface 3 when it is apparently idle (i.e. not loading a web page, not streaming audio or video). Task Manager shows that it is "Microsoft Edge Manager" that is running at high CPU usage. This often happens right after resuming from sleep. It causes Edge to...

    Alarm always plays default sound

When I try to set up an alarm using a custom sound - either a music track or a ringtone - it always plays the default sound. If I tap on "Sound" when editing an alarm, then choose "Pick from ringtones", I see a list of many ringtones, and by tapping on the triangle icon I can preview them...

How to stream music from (Windows) phone to Windows 10 PC

I'd like to be able to stream music from my Windows 10 phone to my Windows 10 PC. Should be a piece of cake, right? Well, no luck so far. This page: How to Stream Songs From Phone to Computer Over Bluetooth explains how to do it using Bluetooth for some older version of Windows. When I try to...

Don't be dumb like me & upgrade without backing up!

I could not get the recovery image to work - despite using the "Volume Down + Power" combination, it always booted into the BIOS. In desperation I turned off Secure Boot, and lo and behold, the rollback completed & I was in the older version of Windows. I was able to turn Secure Boot back on...
