New to Windows Hacking

So I am very new to Windows phone 7. I have been using android since it launched and I understand the ins and outs of rooting your android phone but I do not know what the benefits are of hacking a windows phone 7.

I was wondering if someone could please fill me in on the matter or if their is a website I can read about it would be awesome too!

I chevron'd my Focus S primarily for screenshot capability and more accent colors. I think the Nokia (darker) Blue tiles are the best. Some other homebrews (lock screen widgets) out there look good but don't appear to be supported by 2nd gen hardware yet.
