P.U.P.P.A.H. rules:
*Be polite. We ask that you keep your language clean and polite.

*Be understanding and patient. You may be a power user or developer, but the person you’re talking to on the other end may be a complete newbie. Be patient, and provide all details possible if you’re posting about a problem (descriptive thread title always helps).

*Be a pro. Don’t get into arguments over dumb things. If someone responds in a poor or rude fashion, ignore it. If you notice a pattern of rude or poor behaviour from a particular member, report them to our moderators. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. In a nutshell, ‘think before you post’.

*Be attentive and helpful. Answer questions in a timely manner when you can, and provide thoughts and suggestions that might lead to the solution of a members’ problem.

Then I see this on the front page:

lol Brow its not my fault...lol

Its not my rule or my call. None of the forum rules apply to the blog comments. You can trust me when I say we are not the only ones unhappy with this rule. I was against them giving us mod power over the blog. I didn't want it I knew it would cause issues.

Dave are you looking at some sort of team mod signature? James mentioned it in his e-mail about the new rules. And Palandri brought it up in a thread as well. My two cents, not a bad idea. Just curious about a possible template.

The blog comments section of the rules section caught my eye especially the italicized portion, does it mean that we can now moderate the front page or am I missing something?

I also don't think other members who be able to see when infractions expire, that would allow them to dodge the system.

Yes I am not sure what James has in mind but if you have any ideas on a design shoot him an email or start a thread in the NM forum.

NO!

Please read this:

http://forums.mobilenations.com/forums-team-handbook/451-guide-removing-blog-comment-spam.html

Then read it again.

The new rules/guide is written as a guide for the general public. Don't get confused nothing about the blog page has changed.

The new system gives a lot of leeway to trolls. Even some of our worst offenders don't get 100 infraction points in 10 days.

Guess I'm gonna have to start trumping up charges like the po-po

Read it again and understand the infraction system is only for people we thing will change. If you count the infractions it would take 10 infractions before a ban became permanent. There is no way we are waiting that long with a troll. That's 10 people who could leave the forum before we remove a troll. That's not going to happen. For people like ohgood who walk the line it puts an end to their forever rain of sarcasm and line walking. The points wont go away unless we remove them. That means the infraction expires but the points will still be there unless we remove them. If someone goes a couple of months with out an infraction we can remove the points but if someone keeps getting infractions every couple of weeks we just leave the points there. In the end we still have full power to do what ever we need to.

That makes sense. I could see this being good for somebody like inteller who's been good lately.

And who removes the points? Do we pass our suggestions to you Dave and you consider them, being our super-epic team leader of awesomeness?

There is no reason to kiss my but you already have the job...lol

To the point... the points... I think if you give the infraction you get to chose when and if the points are removed. I am always here to help with advice or I can take over if you are unsure what to do. As usual I will mediate any user complaints.

I want to add to this discussion that I trust everybody on this team will make fare decision in executing your duties. I want you guys to take actions. I don't care what the discussion is at the MN forums. Here at WPC I trust you all. If you see some moron acting like an ass and trolling the forum I expect you to take action don't wait for a ruling from me. Not every ban needs to go through me. If something is borderline I want to be involved in the decision but only if it can wait. If someone is flying off the handle and needs to calm down issue the ban and get me involved once the crisis is over. We all know the rules read and understand them and make sure you can easily justify your actions. That is all you need to do. Okay. Enough said.

What Dave says here is correct. The warnings, infractions and bans are all for users that we feel can be rehabilitated. In no circumstance should anyone feel they need to apply the same warnings/infractions/bans to a blatant spammer, cookie stuffer, etc.

In other words... we all have the power to deal with spammers any way we need to.... but should also be judicious and responsible as possible (be a pro) to try and 'rehabilitate' any problem user we feel is simply on the wrong path. You never know... catch that one user and work with them... they could turn out to be a LONG TIME contributor and die-hard member of our community! This is especially true for newer users... Chances are they haven't read the rules, and simply need some guidance from our team.

Bingo. I think the correct term for this is simply 'Get **** done'. Right? :)

If you EVER have a question or are unsure about a modding action, reach out to Dave... otherwise we trust you to take action and do what you need to do!

Okay, so would the same apply to say like a 450+ post valuable member who's just flown off the handle somewhat? Would they perhaps just need some time out to rehabilitate?

From members with 4 posts to 4000... doesn't matter. As long as we feel the user can be rehabilitated, it's worth following the warnings, infractions and bans procedures we now have in place.

Always be judicious and use common sense. Often times a warning is enough.
