I think the developers never read the announcement for the Developer Spotlight Forum.

I've been actively moving threads to it. Some developers don't understand why, and others think I'm singling them out since tons of threads that should be there aren't.

The Windows Phone Apps and Windows Phone Games forums are a mess. I wouldn't have time to possibly move everything to the right place myself.

Maybe Windows Phone App because the main forum with Games and Developer Spotlight becoming sub forums?

We need to keep it segregated. Lets just give Laura a hand moving the necessary threads. That way the developers wont feel picked on and Laura wont have to be the bad guy all the time. Please.

What about maybe combining Windows Phone Apps and Windows Phone Games into a new forum and call it Windows Phone Apps & Games--Users' Questions? That would definitely signify that developers shouldn't post their apps in that forum, but users should post their questions about apps & games in that forum.

That doesn't have to be the title if someone else has a better title. I just think there needs to be a clearer way for developers to know that the Developer Spotlight forum is where they need to start their threads in order to prevent us from needing to do massive amounts of moving threads.

Then we keep Developer Spotlight as is for the developers to post their apps & games.

What these developers are posting is spam. I want to point out that we have a developers Spotlight just to give these developers a place to post. Posted in any other area of the forum it is the same as spam. If someone selling watches posts in the forum we delete it as spam if someone selling apps posts in the forum we call it a developer app and post it in the developers spotlight. Its the same thing. If these developers don't take the hint and start posting in the correct location we can and should issues infractions.

I want the WP apps forum titled in an easy to find way. It doesn't need to be just questions. I like MRLevel3 app so I posted about its great features. I am not the developer. I want members to be free to post this way. I am not against a name change if we decide on something that makes sense. It needs to be something that doesn't interrupt the flow.

One thing that might help is this. I can write up a forum letter detailing the developers program. I can provide you all with a link so when a developer posts in the wrong forum the letter can be copied and pasted into a PM. If the developer doesn't abide by the rules in the letter we can start issuing infractions.

Windows phone is growing, this problem will get worse I promise. Lets think this over and come up with a good solution now before WP 8.1 hits the streets.

I do like the idea of letter to send to developers.

Yes I agree this will be more common once 8.1 is out. We already are getting more apps.

Update: I've gone through all 58 pages of the Windows Phone Games forum and moved threads. I might've missed a few here or there, since there were so many, but I think you'll notice how much bigger Developer Spotlight forum is now.

Update: I have now gone through all 191 pages of the Windows Phone Apps forum and moved everything I noticed that didn't belong there into Developer Spotlight forum. There's a good possibility I missed a few, since there were so many threads. However, both the Windows Phone Apps and Windows Phone Games forums should be cleaned up better than they had been.

(On a side note it wasn't bad, since I got to see threads with titles like "Board Express is Sucktasticly Sucktacular" which made me laugh.)

Letter first draft. Laura please review:

Welcome Developer,

Thank you for posting your app or game on Windows Phone Central. We really like it when you do that. Here at WPCentral we want to help developers so we have taken some steps in preparation of your arrival. Here is what we have done for you. First we set up a couple of forums just for your Application or Game thread. This area is our Developer Spotlight - Windows Phone Central Forums. This is where you post your completed apps. Alive and well in our developers area it is one of our most popular forums. Our regular group of registered members will find your apps. You will find that they are a chatty group and will help with reviews. They are also great at finding bugs. Speaking of bugs, do you have an app to beta test? That brings us to our second forum just for developers. Our Developers Beta Testing - Windows Phone Central Forums set up just for you so you can gather those ever so important email addresses you need to conduct a proper beta test. Please request email addresses be sent to you via our Private Messaging system because posting personal information like email addresses in open forum is against our forum rules.

You are receiving this Private Message because we have taken the time today to move your application or game thread to the correct area.

We aren’t done yet. We have a developer program just for you. What is this program? I am glad you asked, you can get all the information in this thread:

http://forums.windowscentral.com/developers-corner/191401-developer-user-group-program.html

Please do enjoy your time on the Windows Phone Central forum. Please do let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you. We know developers are the future of Windows Phone we want to help whenever we can.

Thanks

That's excellent! Thanks Dave. 😊

I fixed a couple of typos. I guess we can call that the final draft. When you all need to just copy this letter out of the thread and PM it to the developer. Then move his thread to the correct location.
