Depends on what your needs are. For $1000 there's some pretty awesome laptops out there. for the same price you can get an xps 13 with more ram, and more ports but it doesn't have a touch screen. The surface laptop is essentially the same as buying a surface pro 4 and a type keyboard and the cost would be close. so in short yes the surface laptop does fit the price IMO
Yes. Don't look at the 999 model, look at the next one up. Compare that to the equivalent Macbook Pros and MacBooks, and you'll find that the price does fit, especially considering the screen resolution and the touchscreen capabilities.
