Need help switching from windows 10 mobile to IOS

[Windows Central Question]

So I'm switching from my Lumia 950 to an old iPhone 6s, I'm having a hard time.
I used my old apple ID and chose "set up as new iphone" now I downloaded all Microsoft apps but how do I get started?
WhatsApp is okay,Instagram and others you just have to log in but
1) my contacts- I signed in with the outlook account but still didn't recover my contacts
2) photos- I just need photos from this year 2018 so I made a different folder for it on OneDrive, now do I have to download each and everyone ,bc there is no option for downloading a folder yeah.
And a few other basic things,an answer with steps and tricks to how to have a smooth switch ,please tell me ,thank you very much

To be clear, both of you added your MS account as an Outlook.com account in the Accounts section of the settings app?
