why will my laptop not sync to my samsung sgh i917 and y can i not update anything on my phone?

Your Laptop... What OS and version? Assuming the laptop has Windows, do you have Zune Software?

What version is the Samsung Focus on?

Can you manually sync your Live Account? Have you ever tried to change the email address the Live account is attached to? Is it still a valid email address?

Have you tried resetting the phone and setting up with the same account info? With new account info?
