Anyone wanting a WP8 Phablet

Have there been any rumors or suggestions apart from that 5.9" mock up that was posted a while back?

I would also love to see that kind of phone, at least 5" or if lucky 5.5" like the note II (which I believe is also 720p? and looks fantastic). I'd rather not have to hold the phone a few inches from my face and could hold it at arms length instead. For me that makes a difference.

Personally I would rather see a 4.5 inch screen fit in a 125mmx65mm phone for the next 930.

But it would be great if Nokia released a 5.5 inch phone with a stylus pen to compete with the Note, because in East-Asia people love big phones with a stylus pen due to the use of characters rather than letters in their written language.

This is crap, I can find tons of phablet with Crappoid on them, no one with Windows Phone ...

Is there really a purpose for that on WP? I mean the live tiles on the start screen would be HUGE! I can understand it on Android devices where there are widgets and other stuff on the home screen. It's more of a tablet than a phone. Plus OEMs can do whatever they want with it like add pens and such...

For the time being, the closest thing to a WP Phablet is the Ativ S, which is currently not available in the US (but rumored to be a Sprint exclusive).

Sure why not?.. Portability with instant connectivity is always an attractive selling point. Actually I think I saw a demo clip with Nokia future phone, wrap around your wrist, maybe roll it up in your back pocket, display it on the wall.. Maybe im jumping the gun.. For now a phablet would hit the goldilocks' sweet spot for me at least..

I would like to see a 5.5" or 6" phone running Windows RT/Windows 8. I think 5" would be the maximum before the visual qualities of WP8 start to look goofy. Just imagine how big a double wide phone tile would be on a 5.5" phone! lol

It's a nice thought, but Microsoft needs to work on the OS itself before making this a reality. The largest display for a WP8 device goes to the Ativ S.

I'd be willing to give it a try, but am doubtful I'd like it. My Quantum is 3.5" and seems just right to me. I have never once wished my screen was any bigger. My dad has the Lumia 900 and it seems gigantic to me with no benefit to having the larger screen. I would love to have a stylus like I had in the old days, but would prefer the stylus along with keyboard on a phone the same size as the Quantum. In the end, however, you tend to adjust to whatever you're using. When I look at my HTC Tilt now I can't believe how small the screen is and how fat the whole device is. At the time, though, I loved it. Then the Tilt II came along and it seemed huge in comparison. Guess what? I soon got used to that. Now I'm used to the Quantum. In the end, it is the features and stability of the phone the matter most to me, not its dimensions.

Did you find the Lumia 900 to be too big or did you find the screen to be too big?

Screen efficiency has come a long way since the Quantum, especially with LG phones. Nokia Lumia 900 does not have the most efficient designs in terms of screen size vs phone size. There are phones with 4 inch screens that fit the dimensions of the LG Quantum and soon they will fit a 4.3 inch screen in those dimensions. And already there are 4,3 inch phones that are getting close. For example:

LG Optimus L7 II P710 (not a WP) 4.3 inch screen
Dimensions: 121.5 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm (4.78 x 2.62 x 0.38 in)

Although much thinner than the Lumia 900, it has a Li-Ion 2460 mAh battery vs the Li-Ion 1830 mAh battery on the Lumia 900.


It should be possible for Nokia to make a 135 x 70 mm (5.31 x 2.75 in) phone with a 5 inch screen.

Personally I would love to see a Nokia 4.5 inch 720p phone that fits 125x65 mm (4.92x2.56 in) as the new Lumia 830.

As people do more with phones, they get used to having a bigger screen. At the end of 2009 / beginning of 2010, the 3.7 inch screen was considered perfect and 4,3 as huge (HTC HD2). But now people are getting used to 4.3 up to 4.8 inch screens and based on the new flagships the next norm is 5 inch. So Nokia needs a 5 inch phone, but has to wait for WP to support 1080p. I would not be surprised if they release one in September 2013.

It was the phone that was too big. I'm fine with a bigger screen if the size of the phone doesn't change.

Add me to the list...I am ready to leave Android, I currently carry an OG Note, my 42 year old eyes have gotten accustomed to the large screen and lots of real estate. Give me a 5-5.5 inch screen with SD support and I am on the WP8 train. a 4.3 in screen is like a kid's toy to these old eyes.

Add pentaband radios and a FM tuner...and it would be just about perfect for all of us that use prepaid and dont want to worry about the at&t/Tmobile issues...

A while ago, this whole "PHABLET" concept came to market. Since then, there has not been a windowsphone device set before us that even comes close to competing in this segment of mobile devices. An offering likened to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would be my dream of a device. 5.5" screen... running WP8, have 32gb of internal memory, with the ability/option to expand that another 32gb's with a microSDHC.... NOT have an embedded battery, but offer (From the factory) a removable 3000-3500 mAh battery -AND- allow for the option of adding a beefier extended battery... a 13mp rear camera w/flash and at least a 2mp front-facing camera.... 1080p recording and viewing.... Adobe FlashPlayer.... 3-4 columns of resizable, color optional/variable live-tiles (From small to medium to large).... Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi... Customizable home screen background, ability to download and/or upload ringtones AS WELL AS alert tones. Having all of the bells and whistles offered in a modern/today technology smartphone. I have come to greatly appreciate my WP user experience vs. that of using the Android or iOS. I cannot rave enough of how I love the fact that my phone laptop and desktop all work seamlessly from one to the other. So once again, I submit my idea for what I would call into existence an awesome device. I have held off purchasing a WP8 device, hoping and waiting for a device of this caliber to hit the market... My HD7 is getting tired, and quite frankly, so am I. Mr. Microsoft, WE NEED A WP8 PHABLET!! Please and thank you. MD
