There are some rumors floating around about new phones lately.i hope they are all true.Although there is no official news to confirm it yet, based on specs of recently released phones (L640/640xl), what you guys think the specs would be on lumia 740/740XL? and what kind of specs you want?

I personally want the following specs on lumia 740/740xl:
Screen:5"(for 740),5.7"(740XL).720 x 1280 pixels (~294 ppi pixel density) glance screen and all the screen features similar to 640xl
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 425, Quad core /Octa-core clocked at 1.7 GHz or even Snapdragon 610 quad-core 1.7 GHz.
GPU: Adreno 330.
Memory: 8GB ROM, 2GB RAM.
Camera: 15MP Zeiss optics,5MP FFC.FHD.+ all the camera features as in Lumia 640XL.
Battery:2700mAh for L740 and 3200mAh for L740xl.

Design: must be similar to L730 with some resemblance to 830. and I would like to see new colours like silver , similar to the colour of Surface tablets along with other colours.

Lumia 840 should have Snapdragon 618 hexa core. clocked at 1.8GHz. with 16GB ROM + 2GB RAM.15MP front cam pureview+OIS etc.

Feature suggestion: https://windowsphone.uservoice.com/.../7614639-lumia-740-and-740xl-specs-and-design

I like what you have, and I'd go more towards the snapdragon 610 for the processor, but I doubt there will be another "XL" model until the 940 XL (or the second generation of the Lumia 1520).

For the 840 though, the 830 was the only phone that didn't have the same processor as the 9xx series, so I'm hoping it goes back to that, so it'll have a Snapdragon 810 processor, just a little weaker of screen and camera.

With respect, they'd be even more wise to put a hexacore 808 in the 840 for the sake of differentiating it and trying to keep the relative price down.

More to the OP's question:

Since the rumor is a 740XL and an 840, here's my realistic "hope" for the devices:

740XL
SD 618 or 620
5.5" - 5.7" 720p (maybe 1080)
Same 13MP camera unit as 640XL (possibly with a better flash)
1-2GB RAM
16GB memory
SD Card expansion
3000mAh battery
$299-$349
So, basically, a 640XL with upgraded SoC and a possibly a higher res screen.

840:
SD 620
5.2" 1080p
Glance Screen
13MP Pureview Camera
2GB RAM
32GB Memory
SD Card expansion
2500 - 3000 mAh battery
$399

I strongly feel there should be both 740 and 740XL and not only 740XL. 7xx mid ranger series is known for its elegant slim looks, perfect size and features at that price.
Bringing only 740XL might take away the charm of 7xx series. Most people dont prefer to buy large phablet size phones, personally i dont and when you want a mid ranger phone lumia 7xx series is perfect.

I would expect the 4/5xx series to use SD210, 6/7xx to use SD 410, 8 hopefully jumping to 610 while 9 series and up going the 810 route. Notice how I hope the 610 to be in the 8 series and not the 7 series.

This is what I expect, not what I'd like. SD210 should be acceptable only on the 4xx range. SD410 should be for 5/6xx series. 7/8 series should use SD610, but I doubt that'll happen as that CPU upgrade is the perfect excuse to push customers to the higher 8xx series.

Concerning RAM, your prediction has already been proven inaccurate, although I'd also argue for more memory. However, according to this slide from MS, unless the device uses a 1080p screen, it most likely will remain stuck at 1GB.

Personally I'm expect SD 400 with higher clock and 1Gb ram. It has ffc simillar with 735 but rear camera simillar to 830.

Most likely 5inch devices and having 8-16 GB main while having SD slot.

Physically like 720 or 735 and has IPS LCD. QWireless and glance. Also pureview lense and OIS.

It has dual sim variant too

I preferred the 720 design which continued in 830 -- 730 got a bit cheaper looks. I also want them to bring illuminated capacitive buttons below the screen to use that bezel. Spec wise, I'd want 4.7/5" 720p AMOLED, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM with 2500mah battery. 8GB ROM doesn't cut it for a Windows mainstream phone.

I think there is no high clocked Snapdragon 400 processor and , and snapdragon 425, 415 won't be out in market till 2016, so It would be perfect to use Snapdragon 610 SOC processor ( Not the pricier Octa core Snapdragon 615 processor ) in Lumia 740.

Lumia 740 most likely would have 5" display, 16 Gb Internal Memory, 1-2 Gb Ram. It won't have Pureview lens and OIS for sure as they have been reserved for high end Lumias, but it would be nice to see 13 mp rear Zeiss optics camera with dual led dual tone flash, camera module rounded by metallic frame and covered by Oleophobic Gorilla Glass 4 and camera performance comparable to Lumia 830 with large aperture.

May be 740XL is only a rumoured phone that isn't going to be announced. Lumia 640 XL pricing is high regarding it's NOT SO IMPRESSIVE BUILD QUALITY and PROCESSOR which is old SNAPDRAGON 400 1.2 GHZ CORTEX-A7 QUAD CORE PROCESSOR.

What do you mean? It's running on 200's, 400's, 800's right now. And the previous S4's as well.
But, Windows phones should adopt latest Snapdragon processors( 210, 410, 610, 618, 620, 808, 820) in upcoming Lumia Smartphones, except THESE OCTA CORE PROCESSORS: SNAPDRAGON 615 AND SNAPDRAGON 810 PROCESSOR which are not true beast performer and heat too much even upon light usage, are show piece of failure of Snapdragon processors

Lumia 940 would have Snapdragon 808 processor not the hotly criticized Snapdragon processor.
