I know that 850 was cancelled, but will that mean no midranger from ms this year? (if we dont count the non cancelled 650), or they maybe just didnt like it and wanted to change it or something :(

Or they just didn't like it enought, because ms now will only do these reference models, so they want to do the best they can? Maybe? xD

According to recent strategy changes (value, flagships and business), it seems they won't be making mid rangers like 850 and 750, that seems why they cancelled those models.
Maybe business oriented phones would fall in the mid-range category price or spec wise, but who knows?

I think MS idea is to let other OEMs to manufacture mid rangers...

Well, that would mean if no bussiness oriented mid-range-like phone gets realeased, I will have to wait like an year so lumia 950 would get cheap enought :/

Well in my opinion the 830 is a great device, just when windows 10 launches it will be pretty much outdated... So I was just hoping for 850 in similar price as 830.

850,750,550 are cancelled devices and don't have much changes compared to their predecessors.. What MS should do is keep 1gb ram for low and budget devices (which they have done).. 2gb for mid rangers like 750/850 and 3gb for flagships..

I don't know about you guys but the alleged 850 specs didn't seem like much of a step up.

Yeah, the only part they stepped up in was the processor (SD400 to SD610), but wished they stepped up in the resolution, too (1080p since the flagships are higher). Ah well.

I don't want the 850 to be a mid-ranger. I want it to be a 950 with slightly lower specs.
Same processor , 2 GB ram, 5 inch 1080p display, 10 or 13 megapixel pureview camera. etc

IMO there will be:

- 950/950XL (Flagship)

- One or two versions of Surface phone (business)

- 650 and maybe 650XL (value)

And there you have the 5-6 releases and segments mentioned by Nadella.

Maybe if you want a mid-ranger you'll have to go with another OEM (if they start producing Windows phones).

MS simplifying the hardware lineup is the best and most safest route the Lumia can go. If they cancelled the rumored devices it's because they probably didn't even fit in with the (allegedly) shrunken hardware specs gap. I'm wondering though, is the 400x series canned at this point? (430/435)

I'd be here for another affordable upper mid-range phone with a better CPU and maybe a slightly better camera. The 640 and 640 XL aren't enough for me. LOL :amaze:
