Issues? Bugs? Solutions? For all things Build 14364 of W10M. Discuss it all here.

[NOTE]Tip: Check out this thread before posting

Is your device behaving oddly, is something just not right? This is the place for discussion of software and hardware issues!
[TIP]Here is some useful information you may find yourself needing.
Some issues with responsiveness and app delays can be resolved by either restarting your phone or performing a Soft Reset.

If things get a bit more serious, you may opt to perform a hard reset or software reset.

Lastly, if things really get serious, you may need the Software Recovery Tool to recover your phone back to working order - head over to the Microsoft FAQ Page for more information.

Make sure you check the official Windows 10 Mobile Support Page as well for some of the most common tips and trouble shooting guides.[/TIP]
[INFO]Restarting your phone involves turning it off and then turning it on again. Turn off your phone by pressing the power button until you are prompted to "Slide down to power off". Turn your phone on again by pressing the power button until it vibrates.

A soft reset is similar to pressing the reset button in PCs and has the same effect as pulling out the battery of your phone and then putting it back in. For phones with non-removable batteries, press the volume down and power button together until your phone restarts. Be aware that when using Windows 10, the voume down and power button combination will also launch Windows Feedback. Just continue to hold down the buttons for a full 10 seconds in order to trigger the soft reset. For phones with removable batteries, you can either opt for the button combination or remove the battery and then return it.

A hard reset or a software reset will reformat your phone by removing all the user information leaving only the bare OS and firmware currently installed in your phone. It does erase data so you should always keep a good backup of your phone just in case you have to resort to this option.

The software reset can be done by going to your phone Settings > System > About > tap on "Reset your phone." You will be prompted once before doing this just to be sure. Be sure, also, to have everything backed up since there would be no way to recover all of your files.

The hard reset accomplishes the same thing as the software reset, but can be accomplished when the phone is non-responsive and you are unable to enter into settings. To perform the Hard Reset, "Power off the phone > hold Volume Down > press Power > keep holding Volume Down until you see the exclamation (!) screen, then immediately release the Volume Down. Now tap Volume Up / Volume Down / Power / Volume Down. You should see the spinning gears and your phone will reflash the last OS version held in recovery.

The Software Recovery Tool is the final option, for example for "bricked" phones that would no longer turn on, be charged, etc. This can be used to either roll back to a previous OS version or force an update to a more current OS version[/INFO]
Remember, when reporting bugs be descriptive! The more information you give, the better the chance someone will be able to help you.

What OS version? Any special conditions that should be noted? What were you doing? What is the result? Any error codes or messages given? What have you tried for solutions? What variant of the phone are you using? Single SIM or Dual SIM?

Please describe as much as possible about the bug so others may try and replicate the bug and don't make suggestions for solutions that you have already tried which have failed.
[INFO]When reporting bugs/issues, please also use the Windows Feedback app to report issues directly to Microsoft. Microsoft don't actively read forums looking for people reporting issues when they have a data collection system built right into the operating system. They use WF to analyse numbers and prioritise fixes (issues with more reports, get sorted quicker).

"You can use the Windows Feedback app to tell us which features you love about your Lumia with Windows 10, or when something could be better.
1.To launch the app, swipe over to the App list, and then select Windows Feedback.
2.See if someone else has given similar feedback by entering the topic, such as Microsoft OneDrive.
3.If you find similar feedback, tap the Upvote or tap on the feedback to open it, write the problem details to Add details-field and tap Send.
4.To narrow your search to a specific topic, you can filter the results by picking the category that matches your feedback the closest. For example, for feedback about the Microsoft OneDrive, select Apps and Games > OneDrive.
5.If you don’t find any similar feedback, tap + to add new feedback. Select the correct category and subcategory from the dropdown-list.
6.Enter your feedback (the more details the better!), add a screenshot if you can, and tap Send.
7.Your feedback will automatically upload when you are charging your phone and connected to Wi-Fi, but you can also upload the feedback manually by tapping … > Upload feedback data."

I am not a moderator, nor trying to tread on anyone's toes but I could not see a thread for the latest W10M build for Fast Ring members yet so I made this thread. Moderators, feel free to delete or move or whatever once you have created an official thread.

Okay, so, issues, I'll start.

Lumia 950XL - Single SIM

1 - Store crashes when searching for certain apps
2 - Certain apps fail to install (you get a 'Something went wrong. Try again later' message).
3 - Battery runs hot again and the device is hot to the touch.

I could not fix issue 2. That was important for me with my Band 2 so I factory reset. Once I had done that, without restoring a backup, I noticed a few things had improved.

1 - I had transparent tiles and a background pattern (could have been because I did not restore from backup though).
2 - When scrolling through all apps all of them had icons. Not just coloured squares.
3 - Notification sounds were unique to each app again (in previous builds all notifications, for me, had the same default sound from all apps).
4 - Store did not crash whilst searching.
5 - Microsoft Health could be downloaded and installed without issue.

Well, that is my experience with this build so far. Post here your own experiences too - all are welcome.

Thanks.

"I think" there is a major overhaul being done to the Store; I noticed yesterday (on build 14364) that the new store update was assuming more control, and providing more information and device requirements than what I had ever noticed before. I was actually given a "this app is not recommended for your devise" message. So, it is using the info to help guide us alone? good deal.

Battery always seems to run hot after an update, usually takes a while (day or two, at the most), to settle down. Same for some apps.

If there is an overhaul it should not stop us from downloading normal applications. Hopefully though we should start to see apps like Skype UWP hit the store soon instead of relying on leaked alpha versions.

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

Hi,

Just updated my L950XL to 14367, and a number of built-in apps are failed to start. Camera, Maps, Messaging, Feedback Hub, etc. Anyone else having this issue? Any solution? Soft reset didn't help, I want to avoid hard reset if possible. ;)

Thanks

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

I installed this new version today and I have notice rapid battery drain. Now the phone is dead. Plus the last couple of releases have affect the Live tile updates and the notifications on the lockscreen. Also Dynamic Theme can no longer update the Start Screen background. There are too many thing getting broken in the last batch of releases. Is there no testing prior to release, getting to be a joke, that's not very funny.

No problem with the apps you mentioned, 950XL, DS, US.

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

Folks, it would make things more useful for us if you would include some extra info. What phone, what build did you upgrade from, have you done a hard reset, restore a backup etc...

Things like my phone is hot just aren't very useful.

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

950XL DS, mine updated a bunch of core apps right off the bat and I had not even been on 14364? (the last one before this one LOL) for 48 hours and mine has settled down quite nicely. I am not going to do a hard reset at this time.

Cortana actually answered incoming texts. I'll have to give Microsoft some kudos!

I am streaming from my home server running Plex using wifi where I am, not cell data, and the device is not heating up or devouring the battery!! I'm liking the look of this one 14367.

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

I've updated my 950 and 950xl. I haven't come across any issues yet although the store remains slow and twitchy as ever. I stop all apps updating and run them individually. In my experience, this seems quicker and smoother.

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

Can anyone with a Dual SIM phone put a SIM in the second slot, disable the second SIM and confirm if the issues with data still show up? I am traveling right now and cannot risk it, otherwise would have tried myself

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

Lumia 1520, upgraded from the last build to this new build. My problem is Cortana no longer announce my text msg and hey Cortana is also gone. Have to go back and come back to this build.

you may need to reactivate Cortana (sign-in) with this build. I did.

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14367 Issues (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring)

Edge crashes and will not load.

950XL

Lumia 640 3G Dual SIM, updated from 364 to 367. Feedback Hub and Edge won't open, crash as soon as I try to open them. Phone's been running hot for a couple of build now. Didn't want to hard reset, any suggestions?

Same on my 930. Many build in apps won't work. Is there an solution without hard-reset?

Is it just me or anyone else experienced Start screen crashing and loading all the time soon after updating to build 14367?

I've updated from build 14364 to 14367 on my L830.

I thought it was temporary and would subside after sometime but it didn't. It's still happening after a reboot. The Start crashes as if it were an app. For example, I had opened the old WinC app and when I tapped the start button, the Start screen appeared for a second, crashed and returned to the app.

This is happening every now and then. The Start freezes just after loading, crashes, loads and freezes again just a second later. This is going on like a cycle. I doubt if a hard reset will help.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

PS:- Fixed.

I would say wait for week or so instead of hard reset. Looking at the frequency of last two build releases, I am sure one more release on the way.

Did you try soft reset?

Yes, I said I rebooted. Didn't work. Still happening an hour after updating. I guess it's because of an app called Analog Clock Tile. I unpinned its live tile and I think that stopped the Start screen from crashing. I'll try it several times and see if that is actually the case.

PS:- Yup, I was correct. The live tile of Analog Clock Tile is the culprit. I've sent the developer a feedback email regarding this issue.

I am liking this build alot. Trying more apps and all is well. (950XL)

The only problem I had was that not only did Cortana actually read incoming texts, she was so gung-ho that if another text came in while she was asking if I wanted to read it or ignore it, she started asking me about the second one while she was still talking about the first! LOL!!

Needless to say she failed to continue and closed out, and it happened two times. Talk about over-zealous! I sent MS the feedback. I am simply ecstatic that she is handling incoming texts, I have been waiting a good while for the return of this feature.

I got off Groove today and used Plex, the phone did not get hot and use up my mA. We'll try some more tomorrow.
