Windows 10 Phone - Does it need a sim to install

I recently purchased a new phone so I have my old 630 that I would like to put the 10 preview on. Does the 630 have to have a sim card in it to download the Insider App?

No you shouldn't need the SIM in the 630, as the app should be tied to your MSA

I installed W10TP on my 920... without a SIM card... should be same for any windowsphone... unless I'm wrong!!

I've installed it on my 1020 without a sim card and everything is fine.

Installed it on a 635 with no sim and it works fine. You'll get a warning message every time you turn the phone on that you don't have a SIM. Just tap close and keep going.

No SIM card in my dual SIM 535, no problem to install W10, or reflash to 8.1, and upgrade again, etc.

The only "bug" you'll have, on the current build, is that when you boot the device, the popup saying "no sim card found" is out of reach. So the screen will be greyed and unresponsive. Press the back button (to dismiss the warning) and you're done.

I installed it on a Lumia 920 without a SIM.

You can install W10 insider preview on your L630 without a SIM card. However some Apps specific to SIM card will not work, such as T-mobile wi fi calling or Carrier billing.
