Release 10041 installation woes

I have a notebook/tablet combo that I experiment on which runs Win 8.1. Decided Win10 previews have around long enough since first release to be relatively usable and to generally mess about and experiment on. How wrong was I? Installed the 32bit version (well, tried to install) only for an error to be thrown at the very end of the setup process (something to do with explorer.exe) which has now rendered by machine unusable. Every time I boot and enter my password, the desktop keeps refreshing itself in a loop that simply cannot be interrupted. No keystrokes are or mouse intervention helps. The only was to get out of it is to Ctrl-Alt-Del and shut down.

Anyone else seen this? Or have an idea for solving?
