Hello guys,

I want to install the new build on my Surface 3 but when I click on "Start Upgrade" on the Windows Insider website, the build that shows on Windows Update is build 10130 which won't work on the SURFACE 3.

I am rolling back to Windows 8.1 before installing the final version but I want to try it out and give feedback.

P.S: Sorry about the title, I forgot to include "install" and I don't know how to edit it.

I tried to get 10158 installed. it sort of did something but then at the final restart all I got was a 'not responding' explorer.exe so nothing worked. had to roll back to 8.1... Not sure if I want to try 10159 tonight...........

I installed it and it's working great! of course I was at Win10 DP 10074 so any change would be good but I am very impressed with 10158. It took a long time to download and install but it works just fine. I'm now downloading 10159 and hope it goes as well. Since we are less than a month from official release this is probably as close to the final version we'll see.

As our flavor of Windows 10 is the Core/Home version by default, does anyone know where you can grab the 10074 version to work with our devices? I am also stuck at Windows 8.1 and only being offered 10130. I tried to install a 10158 ISO and it continues to fail when formatting and sysprep of the drive so I am assuming that this is because it is not the Core version.

Download of previous builds for Core?

If I found build 10074, how would I go about installing it?

I tried to go from 10158 to 10159 on my surface 3 but it keeps failing during the install at 15% and rolling back to 10158.
no idea why.

I wonder how long it will take for a slow ring release of 10058. I am only interested in doing a clean install. Considering the build is considerably more stable than 10030, I would think/hope it would be soon.

Can you go from 10074 straight to 10058 or is 10030 required to make the jump?

So I manually installed 10147 and then updated to 10158. Still waiting for 10159 to be offered, so far nothing...If it doesn't show up then I will try to find an ISO for it and upgrade from there. Have noticed the video crashes on 10158 that folks have been reporting. Hope there is a new Intel driver inbound before RTM.

I'm on 10159 and my SP3 is now losing wifi ability upon sleeping. When it wakes, wifi is turned off. When turned on I get nothing. Reboot required.

So, I just double click on the ISO and it installs or I have to make a bootable USB?

Thanks for your comment but we want to maintain this thread focused on the SURFACE 3 not the Surface Pro 3, as they are two different devices.

For the Surface 3 (at least as far as I can tell) you cannot boot to USB to install builds...again as far as I can tell. So you can double click to mount the ISO, and then go to the mounted DVD and run the setup.exe and you should be off to the races.

Had the same thing happen to me but just restarted the entire download and install process. I'm on 10162 now on my S3 and it's the Real Deal!

Yes, the display driver crashes regularly when using the Edge browser on the Surface 3 with build 10166. There is no improvement in this regard from 10162.
Same problem here on my S3 in tablet mode running Edge, display driver crashes all the time and I am running what is supposed to be the RTM of Windows 10 no watermark.
