Hi!

It might be a bit early to ask, but has there been any info if Windows 10 upgrade/update will allow jumping from 32-bit OEM version to 64-bit? Is there any non-phone channel to ask this from somewhere in Microsoft?
Affordable upgrade (like with Windows 8, oh why didn't I use that :straight:) would be OK too, otherwise looking for a second-hand PC with 64-bit version to be used as main computer could be a better alternative.

BR, Kimmo:)

If I understand it correctly, the 32 vs 64 bit question is inherent in the processor itself- its set up for either 64 or 32 in how it operates.

32bit <any version> to 64bit <any version> won't be a supported upgrade path.
Depending on the final way the free upgrade for the first year is handled, you might be able to install a fresh 64bit version (but you'll likely lose any files etc on that existing hard drive).

I know that upgrading to 64-bit will be clean install - perfect chance to move to SSD without cloning and get rid of all old sludge :amaze:

Maybe MS could go as far as to limit 32-bit version to special hardware (like old Atom N270 - which is a bit on slow side with W7) and make 64-bit version default...
