Turn off Cellular data in windows phone 10 Technical Preview

Many users of new "windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones" are unable to turn off mobile data.....
so here is the simple solution:
1] go to setting>Extras>access point
2] create a new access point ( insert anything in fields )
3] Set it as active.
Done!!!
whenever you want to turn on data go to access point n choose working (default) access point

Um, first of all, that was a known problem and disclosed.

Also, setting a different access point certainly breaks the connection, but i don't think it saves much power.
Awkward, but i suppose it does save data.

Many users of new "windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones" are unable to turn off mobile data.....

It was one of the features Microsoft said didn't work in this build.

Good effort if you found a workaround that works for you.

Hard reset your phone. If that doesn't work then use Lumia software recovery tool and revert back to 8.1

Tried by hard reset..but failed..tried to back to 8.1 by lumia recovery tool and window recovery tool but unable to do so..both are failed

How can u not be able to use Lumia software recovery tool? I just used it today to revert back to 8.1

I tried it many times and not successful..when i start to update the software it gets restart the mobile and then tool show operation failed error.

I cant find extras in settings i only have extra and info and it had no access points inside ?

why Microsoft release incomplete updates. Why Ms release release updates without testing...
please help have any quick soluation?
if my android user friends see my phone its laugh with windows.

The Windows 10 Technical Preview is NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT.
IT IS NOT A COMPLETE UPDATE.
It is an early access program for those who do not mind the risk of messing up their phones.
It has been stated so, there are disclaimers you had to have clicked through to EXPLICITLY opt-in. It is not for public use.

New Windows 10 Technical Preview build now available for phones

There's no one to blame but yourself. the risks and numerous problems have been outlined in various places.
Never was this billed as an update for normal people, whereas the Developer Preview is much more polished.

If you had an Android, this would be as if you installed an experimental nightly ROM, ignoring the warnings, and blaming the developer for releasing an unfinished product when things go wrong.

The solution is to erase your phone and revert to the last release.

And don't jump into Insider builds without looking in the future.

Try removing your memory card before repeating the same process again.

Have you tried with a different cable or the cable supplied with your phone or any Lumia phone cable? (as far as I know most lumia phones are shipped with factory cables, however I am not sure about the latest handsets - not sure about other OEMs).

I had the exact same problem and for me no other cable works apart from the Nokia supplied cable...

nice work around. I dnt care for battery life at this moment. but need to save data as Im bing charged. Thnx a ton.

Update: just found out that there is no access point setting in extras for me on my L630 DS
So m stuck.

this doesn't work actually. When my WiFi was out of range, the phone automatically started using mobile data even though there was no indication of it on the notifications..i mean there was no E or H symbol.

Head to settings -> cellular+sim -> For limited wifi connectivity set to 'dont use cellular data'

The other workaround for this bug is to hard reset your phone.
