About installing Windows 10 via insider preview, what version do I actually get?

About installing windows 10 via insider preview

hey guys just have a small question, if I register for windows insider now and try to install windows 10 on a pc, what version do I actually ? Is it the old build 10130 (and go through series of updates for new builds) or directly the new ones like build 10159.....

10030 is the most recent build for the slow ring, so that is what you will get if you upgrade now from 8.1. You can then switch to the fast ring and get the newer build.

With the release of the 10162 ISO, you can now sign up for preview, download ISO, and then upgrade from 8.1 (or any other version) directly to 10162.

I just did this on my Surface 3 and it's working great so far!

They expect to push this build to the slow ring next week. So, you will get this if you do an upgrade through windows update once that is done.
