Hello I am wondering if someone can help me figure out why I can't install 10166 on my Surface 3. I had 10162 on it but it kept crashing, had something to do with intel video drivers not being optimized. I downgraded back to 8.1 from 10162, now that 10166 is out I want to give the preview a try, but it won't install. I launch the windows10 preview application from the windows insider website, but the windows update doesn't even find any of the builds, 10130, 10159 or 10162. Am I doing something wrong? thanks

We were replacing the 10130 provisioning build with 10162 yesterday, it's likely that you hit this during the window when we had taken down 10130 but hadn't yet propped 10162. Can you try again and see if it is offering you a build now?

Thanks, g

Have you just tried installing from the 10162 ISO?

Just put the ISO on a flash drive, open it in explorer and run the Setup.exe and you should be on your way. Make sure to change the update settings to Fast Ring and within 24 hours you should be able to pull down the 10166 update.

I've been finding that I need to do clean installs instead of multiple updates since my Surface Pro 3 128GB model will run out of hard drive space due to the Windows.old folder being huge in my C: drive.

Started with fresh 8.1 install, immediately updated to 10158 then went to update to 10159 the day it released and could not because my HDD only had 7GB available.

So thankfully they released the 10162 ISO when they did so I could just jump straight to it with a clean install then move to 10166 a few days later.
