Hi!
I want to know what type of data I lose during upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Insider Preview.

Will I have to reinstall all my software?

Thanks
Jakub

You are not losing any data if you upgrade from 8.1 to Windows 10.
Actually I'd upgrade to the current RTM build 10240 and not to an Insider build, because it'll get auto activated and you're not sharing your whole life with Microsoft.

If you use Windows Media Center, you will lose it if you upgrade to Windows 10.....A big feature for me

Official release is only a couple weeks away, I'd wait. No, you don't loose any apps or data. Backup just in case though. Some apps might not work (most do). App developers need to update their apps work properly work in Win 10.

I've been on the Insider Program since launch, but I just upgraded my main Desktop from Windows 7 to 10 last week and lost absolutely nothing. I was planning to do a clean install, but the performance is still great so I'll probably keep running this install even after July 29. Having an SSD probably helps with that.

Expectation, hope, surprise, wonderment these are good words and you could lose the use of all of them by trying to put 10 on now instead of waiting.

Plus I do believe they have shut up shop till the 29th for new devices anyway.

It's only just over a week now.
