As the windows update route isn't working on my two Windows 7 PC's and my Windows 8.1 tablet i tried out the mediacreationtoolx64 file from microsoft with which you should be able to upgrade to windows 10.

However the stupid developers from microsoft has decided that if you live in denmark you MUST want to install a danish version of windows 10, regardless of the language you're using in your current windows.. A side effect to this is that you cannot upgrade and keep your settings and apps due to the language difference... Such a nice move from microsoft!

I tried changing my location settings in control panel but this hasn't helped. Any clues as to how i can get it to install an english version of windows 10 instead of a danish one?

Hmm I have installed my through the tool and I live in Denmark, mine seems perfectly fine in english at the moment :o

When I went through the Media Creation Tool (for a backup of my 8.1) it asked me specifically what Language I wanted it in... That's what is written on the tin, I've not looked inside yet.

There should be a pull down menu where you can select the Languages, Windows 10 editions, and the x86/x64 versions. Do you have it?

You need to choose not to Upgrade, but to Create bootable disk. I have it in Czech, so I can't tell you exact titles of those choices. Then you can choose language, edition and 32/64 bit.

You can also download ISO directly from their web, but you need to act like device, which can't run .exe (I tried spoof useragent of any phone, it gives you choice to select language and edition and then you can download your ISO).

try to change system locale:
control panel -> Region and Language -> Administrative -> Change System Locale

Using the tool is the only way I can upgrade. I've done it with both media pc's and has upgraded fine. I've tried the other ways by deleting the files / folders and forcing the Win update via the command and seems to keep failing once it's downloaded.

So far so good, and both devices are showing valid licence.
