After Windows 10 install, sound disappeared...then internet disappears???

I downloaded 10 on my desktop last night. After the download the sound disappeared. It showed that there was sound, but nothing was coming through the speakers. All the drivers were up to date. Tried some suggestions on microsoft's site and other sites, and nothing worked. Now, this morning, my desktop doesn't even recognize I have an internet connection. I'm about ready to burn my desktop and commit the cardinal sin of purchasing a trendy mac. Help me before it's too late.
