reset windows 10 of surface pro to Factory settings

So i thought resetting would give me a clean install of windows 10. Instead it reverted back to windows 8. Which would make sense since it is reverting to factory settings but I thought this wasn't the case for this. O well...

I was wondering about this myself. So if I do a reset on my Surface 3 it will go back to 8.1? What happens if I do it after deleting the old.windows files?

If you upgraded your Surface from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, a reset will reinstall Windows 10, not Windows 8.1.

However, if you choose Restore factory settings during the reset, the version of Windows that came installed on your Surface will be reinstalled.
