It is such a difficult question to answer because it typically requires the cooperation of US carriers. Cooperation we cannot count on.

Regarding Lumia Denim, there isn't one for the 920, its just an OS (Windows phone 8.1 Update 1) update, not a firmware update, so use the Preview for Developer's program, which will get you up-to-speed.

Will AT&T release Windows 10? We don't know. They've been speedy on the rare occasion (I think Update 3 + Black for the 1020) to sluggish (months behind the world on GDR2 + Amber for the 820 and 920) to outright blocking updates. (Lumia Denim for the 830)

If the 920 isn't tied to a carrier, it would have 8.1 Update 1 already, and Windows 10 in the future, some unknown time after the first wave for newer devices.
